Just do "1/0" and wait. If your calc corrupts your OS certificate, then you know you're on MP.
But if we're on 2.43, the program will quit

WFRNG OS did solve my problems... But attempting to send TI-OS to the calc ruined it again (although the transfer started very quickly, because of the help from WFRNG OS). That attempt was unsuccessful, and I had to go to school... without a calc OS

Lets hope they don't do away with the TI-84 emulator to try to save some space. 
I don't think they would ever do that... But maybe they would remove Nspire TI-BASIC instead?

True, but maybe someone will be able to figure out how Apps are formatted, and then develop a way for the community to make their own. 
That would need us to figure out both the lab hardware and the calculator hardware, so it might be quite tricky.
We would need to know all of that only if we're going to make apps that support data collection stuff... If we just want to make apps that do something else, we don't need to know as much.

Does the downloadable version on TI website come with 2.22 as well? I wonder if newer 84+ calcs does either? If he bought his calc used then he might have gotten an older CD with OS 2.22 on it.
2.22 was included when I downloaded TI Connect a few moths ago, so I guess TI hasn't bothered to replace it.

Keep in mind that TI > Us in many areas even still. Take, for example, the USB protocols (or the keyboard for the Nspire), which we don't fully understand.
That's just because TI made the USB protocols and the Nspire keyboard. If we would've made those instead, TI wouldn't be able to understand them. They might know a bit more about their calcs than what we do, but we might be better at programming them.

I just installed WFRNG OS after having used 2.55MP. The installing went fine, although the OS itself had some problems (which are not related to 2.55MP). I think it's safe to assume that downgrading and installing third-party OSes still work.

After installing 2.55MP, the screen was blank (but turned on) for a minute or something before the RAM clear screen appeared. I tried to install WFRNG OS afterwards, but TI-Connect didn't want to send it (it didn't want to send 2.55 at first, either...) I'm going to try sending it again tomorrow (GMT).

According to JosJuice, inverted matrix bug was fixed, though. I didn't say anything about that.
