The OS is secured with an MD5 hash. That means that we're not going to be breaking it anytime in the near future. At least it's not as bad as the Nspire RSA code.
So you've found the OS file? Which one is it?

But then what would be the remaining 10 MB for? Did they just leave 10 MB unused for future additions or something?
Most likely. It wouldn't surprise me if they did.

This is too epic
Now I wonder if monochrome videos combined with sound would be doable on a 15 MHz calc?
And if it's possible, would compression be too hard? I have a feeling that video+audio files will be very large...

11 megabyte installer The OS update it self is probaly no more than a few dozen kilobytes. The Prizm flash chip is 32 MB. 16 MB of this can be used by the user? What are the other 16 MB used for? Most likely the OS. 11 MB seems like a realistic size for the OS if 16 MB is available for it. Of course, the OS might be a bit smaller than the PC installer... 9-10 MB, maybe?
Really? I wonder if the OS really uses all the other 16 MB... I seriously hope the rest of the memory isn't used to store screen data... (that would explain why it's so slow)
Based on what I saw in the installer, the OS seems to be about 6 MB, but I'm not sure yet.

These are some of the files that are placed in Temp by the OS installer. The eActivities aren't interesting, but OSupdateDLL.dll might be...

Casio has released version 1.02 of the Prizm OS on their website, along with trial software for the Prizm. According to Casio it adds "new 10 eActivities!!". However, it appears that this OS is a different version of the 01.02.0200 OS that was pre-loaded on certain calculators, because these calculators did not have the Locate command glitch with non-ASCII characters, but this copy of OS 01.02.0200 re-introduces it, so do NOT update if you already have 01.02.0200 installed!!!https://edu.casio.com/download_service/download/category.phpThe update is only compatible with the fx-CG10. Nothing is known about when the fx-CG20 will be updated. The update file is a zipped exe (about 11 MB).

$4000-$7FFF can be mapped to either a flash page or a RAM page, same with $8000-$BFFF, but (I think) everything under $8000 is usually used for flash. $0000-$3FFF is always ROM page 0 and $C000-$FFFF is always RAM page 0.
Not completely sure, though. Someone correct me
That's the normal usage. I believe it's possible to map pages slightly differently if needed, but it's usually not needed... And some of the stranger re-mappings don't work on the TI-83+ BE, so using them would break compatibility.

What sucks though is that by adding these features, TI wasted another page of flash. More incompatibility issues, in other words.
Isn't that page reserved for the OS? The only program that I know uses it is the new version of TI-Boy SE, which does things in very hackish ways and replaces parts of the OS...

Also does the calc really have 65536 bytes of RAM? I always thought the regular 83+ had 32768, so maybe it would be good to specify what part of that 32768 is the RAM.
It has 65536 bytes of addressable memory locations. Different pages of RAM and ROM are swapped into those readable 65536 bytes when required. The total amount of RAM can be completely different.

Ah, okay. It seems like it would be more useful if it stopped the program, in my opinion. Then again, I don't code in Axe, so it might be better that way.
Isn't there another command that stops the program? Like Return or something...

no, although i wouldn't mind that removed either. but its not necessary.
Isn't that in the boot code? The boot code is untouchable...

Why are security bytes going to be rendered useless? And why 00 09 filling.
00 09 is NOP. Replacing everything with NOP is easier than making the file smaller.

Awesome... This really helps me. Now I just need to get a Prizm, and then I can start hacking too
