@Geekboy, Omni-sama's weapon cheating.

Also, TO EVERYONE, I believe I can do custom overworld sprites now, so if you can't do a full custom animation I can tell the engine to play the overworld attack animation instead, which is much easier to hax on my part and only requires a few 16x16s, though it is less impressive. In fact, I may go this route for everyone to ensure everyone can get a custom. Comments and suggestions welcome.

FEPlanet has example overworld sheets.

I'm sorry, everyone, but I'm on a PSP until my "vacation" begins and cannot sprite dump.

Homer, you're in, replacing Canas' table entry. You can have anima. However, note that dark magic will be recieving significant buffs from FE8 (in particular, Luna's Hit will almost double), and if you want anima as well you will get slightly nerfed.

Frey, if I have sprites for catboy!Freyaday I'll use them. Everything basically comes down to that.

Thanks. Irrational rage is mostly gone. Anyway, weapon graphics are hardcoded into class animations. It's not a matter of replacing one graphic: it would be literally thousands, to say nothing of remasking, and this all assumes that the sprites even exist, far from a certainty. Plus, I'm already strapped for free space. Any animation additions move me faster towards overspill than anything else.

Certain weapon types are strong against other weapon types. This holds for magic too (the Trinity) Making a weapon WT neutral is harder than it sounds, as there aren't any in FE7.

And if anyone can use the weapons, that means a new animation for EVERYONE.

And they may as well be NWs -- outside the weapon triangle, require FC, and shouldn't be usable by other units. Please correct me if I'm missing something.

1) They must be sprited from scratch (which I can't do) since no FE class uses NWs.
1b) Which means I must do an FC frame insert. These take hours.
2) They can be traded to other units.
3) Said units may be able to use them. I am out of wpnlock slots and they must be classed as 0-rank to circumvent the weapon triangle -> no proficiency req.
4) They can break. I can fix this, but it's a pain to keep balanced.

Frey, the logistics of natural weapons make them near-impossible to implement let alone sprite, thus my concerns about Omni-sama.
