TIMID is external too. It can be built internally but you still wire it up to the linkport. You need a way to power it though.

We have 75Mb/s and we're gonna get double the speed without additional charges :D That's 150Mb/s for the price of 75! It's €50 a month.
(for €60 a month you can get 300Mb/s by the way)

Actually wouldn't this be 2 bytes? Because some tiles have transparency or black, meaning they have like 3 colors, which won't fit in 1 bit? This looks awesome, though. That graphical style would fit xLIB very well, although obviously more details can be used in xLIB. Do you think you would be able to colorize Metroid II: Evolution palettes by the way?

EDIT: Wow at that C64 set I missed above! O.O However by Metroid 3 I meant Super Metroid tilesets. :P
Yeah. I did not make the c64 set. It's by some other guy. I know what metroid 3 is :P I am gonna try to make a metroid3 ish mockup using monochrome 2x2 pixels again.

Edit: I took a still from metroid 3 and I shrunk the level down a bit to be able to fit as much as possible on the screen.
Edit 2: This is a monochrome 160x120 mockup.
Edit 3: Coloring the previous mockup. Work in progress.

It's more like the zx spectrum with its bleeper routines. Wil you add pulsewidth modulation too (using envelopes or LFO's) so you can create some complex compositions?

I picked aladdin for snes up yesterday and I played it for a bit. The first levels aren't that difficult, but at the lava bit it gets really tricky. Luckily you are given a password so you start off at this point. It's a really cool game with nice graphics and the control scheme is very basic, so it's easy to pick up and play. I recommend this game to everyone with a snes!

Mine is only square at the moment too. I want to have one channel play bg music and the other play sound effects. It would be nice to have more channels but the MCU I'm using doesn't have enough timers... or I need to use them more efficiently.
What mcu are you using? If you got an atmega168 or 328 you could use my software:

I'm gonna get Aladdin for the snes now for €6,50 loose cart. It's not the best price you can get it for, but it saves me shipping.

Edit: This is a 1 bit pixelart. Each tile has its own set of two colors (1 and 0) for the sprites one color is transparent and for the tiles the second color can be any color, so I did multi color tiles. The pixels are 2 by 2 and I'm still using the basic colors.

No they had it for gba, but it's more or less a complete port.

I did not make these.
Metroid 3 with 3 color sprites and 2 wide pixels? Someone made this. It's c64 pallette and 320*200 with 2wide pixels. Sprites in multicolor mode are 3 color.

Thanks. I was going for the original metroid look, but I might do some mockups exploring different styles such as metroid 2.

I got pokemon ruby and I crammed a cr2030 in there. It fits without modification and there is no need to get the smaller more expensive battery. It does not look pretty though cause there is no label on the cart anymore, but shit: it was 99 cents. (I'm gonna pop some tags...)

Art / Re: Mockups "please say this is going to be a game"
« on: July 15, 2013, 01:17:14 pm »
I don't think that a playable metroid game can be made in basic on a cse. The metroid games are not very responsive on the regular monochrome calcs and the cse has a slower screen. The mockup can be replicated using basic, but it will be slow I think. especially with vertical scrolling.

Edit: I changed the colors to the c64 palette and did this little photoshop thing to showcase it on a monitor.
