I held that controller in my hands in the store and it was heavy as hell. It turned out that they mounted a huge metal structure on the back to make sure it doesn't get stolen. How am I supposed to get a feel for the controls if the controller weighs 30 pounds???

(Sadly) not everyone enjoys that franchise, so you won't get a lot of sales for a legend of zelda console (which only plays legend of zelda).

« on: January 25, 2013, 05:06:20 am »
What do you think is the ultimate hardware hack project?

I had this idea: Take a small portable B&W TV and turn it into a XY vector monitor controlled by arduino. Then add a soundchip from a cheapy casio keyboard (which only reads keystrokes from the patch buttons) Use a calculator for the control buttons. There you have it: the Hacktraxio. (derived from vectrex, hack, casio and axe :P)

Now you guys!
(I might steal some of your ideas, so tell me if your cool with that or not.)

Now I don't have an excuse. Now I have to learn ASM.

I could do some artwork for the titlescreen. Or is there another artist working on this project yet?

Axe / Re: Music files in axe -Best way to implement it?

Really? nobody? This is a solution I came up with: the most obvious tracker format saved as raw data. It's fast but not the most efficient. I might be able to compress the appvars though.

Note:
nn - ii - fx
nn = pitch
ii = instrument
fx = soundeffect
Example:
C-3 05 00
G-3 05 00
--- -- --
A-3 05 00
F-3 05 00

00 is no effect
--- means: no note data. (rest)
Effects can also be applied on rests. (pitch bends and playspeed changes for example)

Is there a way to export these lua programs to a text file (and load them from a text file)?

Nintendo has The Legend of Zelda, so they win anyways :P
Wait until the novelty wears off. Then what? Ooooh make different games :P Diversity always wins.

To get rid of this problem forever: get a 5v power supply and hook it up to the battery compartiment somehow (remove the batteries though)

It took me a while just to get to the point that I was able to make my soundchip. It takes a lot of experience aquired from smaller projects (still pretty complex XD I pushed myself to the limits as well.)

Get fresh batteries every once in a while. That's what you should do. Also get yourself a battery tester to check if the "new" ones are actually full.
