How about private key encryption? This way the program can read the data using a public key, but for editing you need a private key. Look it up on google.

TRAXE is a tracker I made a while ago. It is built around the freq( command, so it's monophonic right now. I could modify it to be polyphonic or just write a new tracker from scratch (probably easier) 830
