Well, the battle count is only.for battles you've won, so the enemies won't necessarily get harder (I'll add something to make their difficulty increase a little, though).  The final boss will be a set difficulty, though, so training is definitely required.

The enemy difficulty will be based on the battle count.  Also, you'll get new attacks after winning a certain number of battles, but things like damage and health will increase with each battle.

Small update.  Good news: the battle system will be bigger and better than I originally thought.  Here's what I'm doing.  I wanted to do something a little different. There will be no levelling up, only a battle count.  The hero has different attacks, depending on whether he has a gun and his battle count.  The monsters will each have their own attacks, the power of which depends roughly on the battle count.

Wow, way off topic.  So my avatar is the letters IQ.  I like to change it to reflect what I'm doing.  (check my sig for what IQ is).

Well, fifteen screens.  I know the plot doesn't seem very long, but think Desolate

I've decided to reveal some of the storyline while I've got some free time.

The game starts with the hero waking up in a laboratory of some sort.  He has no idea how he got there.  Unfortunately for him, the laboratory happens to be populated with mutated creatures.  The point of the game is to escape the laboratory.  The twist at the end will blow your mind.

Also, DJ, the sprite drawing program is only 5400 bytes, and that includes drawing the entire screen and the loop.

I like 174 and 184.  192 is also pretty funny.  In fact, they are all so, so true.

The mad scientist who likes creating mutated creatures and powerful weapons 'cause it's fun (and also handy if uninvited adventurers show up.)

They just read my mind.  (Go look at the IQ battle screenshots.  Scientist + mutated creatures, one of which has a huge gun)
