I'm not sure on the size but I couldn't sleep this morning and started working on luigi. All of them are 16x16. Mario could be done easily with a little conversion of mine. I'll continue on and get him throwing as well as the small versions of him probably a bit later today sometime.

That is great builderboy, managed to keep a lot of detail. I couldn't quite get the face to look right and you solved that problem. Excellent work.

My bad I didn't read all of his description, especially about the looping being necessary. The first part looks right just walking through it systematically. Well thought out on the checking of lower scores, you actually save a step doing it that way versus setting lowest score to 0. Your recursion looks right but I didn't test it. Good way to test yourself ha.

Here are those sprites penguin. They werent made by me, Raiser had made these at one time and sent them to me. I don't think I actually had a project going at the time and he had these laying around.
Do what you see fit, use them or not, I don't care ha. If you do use them, be sure to give Raiser credit. What you have is really great, and I'm not sure if these fit the style your going for. But I know I won't ever be making a chess game, especially as great as this one is. Keep it up man, this is fantastic.

Did you get this working then snake.
I was going to say you wouldn't need an array. A variable that keeps the lowest score. A variable that keeps a running total of scores. A variable that keeps the number of entries submitted.
You can get all your information from those three things. You shouldn't need any loops for this.

Great work penguin. I was gonna say I have some sprites for a chess game, that would be a shame not use. If your interested your welcome to use them. Not to say that it doesn't look good as it is though.

I agree...this was incredibly hard to shrink down. This was my best effort. I agree on the 7x7 size.
phenomist you did a great job getting them down to that size.

jhgenius01 it is a common problem around forums. Actually RevSoft had about 600 members and once I cleaned out all the 0-1 posters, we dropped down to around 300.
A good majority of those 0 posters are most likely bots without the ability to post. No matter how advanced your bot detection system is, unless it is by invite only you arent going to stop bots from registering.

I understand the reasoning behind spending more for hosting, UTI currently has some pretty shoddy hosting.
$300 just seems like a lot of cash, I think you could get away with something for half that and still have it relatively fast. I'm just throwing that out as an option. I can't remember what RS uses but when we made the front page of slashdot and all those other sites and had 600 people visiting the forums at once for a good majority of the day...we never had any issues.
Keeping these sites going is important and I'm sure something can be figured out.

Why do you pay that much for hosting DJ? I think you guys could find a better deal out there for half that cost.

I had created a 16x16 toad once, I'll see if I can dig them up.

Yes, anything that assists basic development is accepted and would fall under the hybrid-BASIC category.
Also DJ you might want to put something in about the prizes. 1st prize is still being worked on, but I can say it's big. 2nd place is $40 USD, distributed via paypal

I left that up to them to create a topic, apparently they didn't feel it was necessary. edit: I also updated the rules to make it clearer about Axe. If you are not a member of the UTI forums you can download them at revsoft here as a guest: http://www.revsoft.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=17&p=21748#p21748
