News / Re: Ticalc.org Hiring
« on: January 30, 2011, 09:21:09 pm »
I would apply if it wasn't for my English grammar not being perfect enough for such site. I also have barely any experience in 68K and Linux material. X.x

That said it would be nice if the person who applied was one who check forums regularly, so he can read more info about released programs as well as opinions about them, to have an idea of what is newsworthy or not. Ticalc is really in dire need of news. I tried to make up for the lack of news there lately but Omnimaga only focuses on games and dev tools and most people who come here comes for the forums.

DJ, your grammar isn't that bad.  I didn't know that English wasn't your first language until you mentioned it.

General Calculator Help / Re: USB, missing RAM pages, and more questions

Ah.  It sucks that my calculator is missing RAM pages.  Random question: when emulating, does the TI-nspire simulate having the extra RAM pages?

Thanks, happybobjr, I'll take a look.

Good point.  Still, I suck at writing announcements and such, and I'd rather be writing programs then reviewing them.  I don't think I'd be good for ticalc :P

General Calculator Help / USB, missing RAM pages, and more questions
« on: January 30, 2011, 07:17:36 pm »
I have questions!

1]  I want to try using msd8x, and it appears I need a mini A to female A thingymajig.  I already have a mini A to mini B cable, and a mini A to male A.  Using these, and other common household items, is there any way to make my own USB adapter thing?  I think I might be able to just find 4 thin paperclips, and try and connect my USB to the mini A to male A cord, but I don't think that would be particularly sturdy nor safe.

2]  Can anybody recommend a set of cheap but reliable set of USB adapters that I could look at buying?

3]  Missing RAM pages - the serial number on the back of my calc (TI-84+ SE) ends with P-0509M.  I believe I read somewhere that serial numbers ending with F and higher are missing RAM pages -- is this true?

4]  What are RAM pages?  What are they used for?  Why do some programs use them?  If I don't have them, but want to use programs that require them (like TI-Boy or msd8x (I think)), are there workarounds available?

5]  My full serial number starts with 4 numbers, then six, then the before-mentioned set of characters.  What do all of the numbers and letters mean?

I fourth (fifth?) SirCmpwn's request.  It would really enhance the power of Axe.

The Axe Parser Project / Re: Bug Reports

Input issues:

I think that this is something that was intentionally added by TI, but pressing 2nd, quit while using input will kill the program and give a ram crash the next time I try to run an assembly program (or something).

I suspect that input is a bcall or something which has a 'safety' 2nd-quit key combo built in by TI that returns to the homescreen, but incidentally happens to mess with the Axe program I want to make.

Or am I completely incorrect?

Solutions, please?

Also, what verb/gerund works best with 'RAM crash'?  Is it 'giving a RAM crash', or 'doing a RAM crash'?  'cuz both of those sound awkward.  </random>

WFRNG wins Axe contest - October 11th 2010 - http://ourl.ca/7390

lol, I remember this one.  As I recall, it nearly caused me to die of shock before I returned to sanity :).  As fake news goes, it ranks as one of my favorites purely for the knee-jerk reaction it gave me.
