News / Re: The REAL contest results are in!

Sweet!  2nd place!

Congrats to SirCmpwn and Deep Thought!

----Jump! Fun Facts----
The idea for this entry came just after I read Finale TI's post about that he wouldn't be entering Nostalgia, 7 hours before the deadline.
I finished checking Omni then I wrote the main game engine.  This took about 2 hours.
Next I think I did my homework and other chores.  I came back to work on the Main Menu.
Everything worked with about 3 hours to go except high score saving.  I implemented it and it crashed.  I revised the code and it crashed.  Then it crashed some more.
I gave up and went to bed an hour before the deadline.  I couldn't fall asleep and kept thinking about Jump!  I suddenly remembered one of Builderboy's posts referring to confusion on Copy()rThis was also my mistake.
With 4 minutes to spare, I got out of bed, changed the code, and entered it.  This is Jump's journey to the contest. ;D

Wow... That's a long coding streak.  I could never pull off something like that.

Axe / Re: Drawing lines
« on: October 12, 2010, 01:56:31 pm »
Ah - not what I meant.  Sorry.
I know about the line command, but I would like to know at a more indepth scale exactly which pixels the command knows to turn on.

(What I will end up trying to do is check along a line to see when it encounters a pixel already on, then draw the line only to that point.)

Ooh - that's awesome!

Just a quick question - is the house one large sprite, or a group of smaller sprites?

Axe / Drawing lines
« on: October 12, 2010, 01:48:31 pm »
Hi - quickly, could somebody explain how Axe draws lines (as in, how it chooses which pixels to turn on)?

Is there a formula of some kind, and how would the routine-thingy handle turning on multiple dots in the same column or row?

We'll find out this evening/tomorrow!

Lol ;D

You also missed the lobster reference :P

Well, when I clicked on the link, one of the first words I saw was 'Justin Bieber' ('cuz it was in blue).
That was when I knew something was up.  Everything else after that was just confirmation.

* Michael_Lee desperately starts trying to program a time machine onto his calculator

Well, traveling backwards has already been proven possible so forwards shouldn't be a problem :D

Wait, wait - isn't it the other way around?  Traveling forward is easy (you just move at a very fast speed), but isn't going backwards tricky?

(Also if the 'lolwut' was about the time machine, it's for warping forward to the results more quickly?  Because I'm impatient?)

You have to defeat the boss to get a score, because the score will be independent of the played time. You would be able to cheating by let destroying your ship at the start.
Maybe you could add point values for each enemy ship, and increase your score every time you kill something?

Leaving the help menu will you bring to the score screen. This is a solution for my getkey problem for the moment. If you want to leave the help menu, you have to press 2ND, but the key will be also used for the main menu in the first frame.

Wasn't there a thread where a similar problem was talked about?  I'm having difficulty finding it, I think it was in the Axe subforum...

THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!!

Also, it would be nice if you didn't need to beat the boss before being able to save your high score.  Plus, when I click on the about button, then return to the main menu, I think it would be nice-ish if the shooting ship continued to shoot the 'about' button.

...
Did you just rickroll me?

O.o

And yeah, the custom high scores are pretty meaningless, but it's always good for a laugh...

Edit: Also, this new version of the game has been added to both the Omnimaga archives and ticalc.org, where they are both pending checking, or whatever it is the administrators do.

General Calculator Help / Re: Have calc? Will program! [HCWP]

Over at Cemetech. Don't worry about it.

Aw, but I wanna know!  (It sounds like a good story).

Also, a request: do you think it's possible to post transcripts or summaries, even rough, sketchy ones?
