What's the difference?  the second one just looks to me like the first one plus more complicated inputs?

btw, is MASK faster or BLIT?

The "_R" functions are a tad faster. The arguments get passed directly into registers. The others are put on the stack then copied into registers.

Not sure about BLIT... I've never used it.

I started with 300 bps now I am at 3 Mbps... Wow O_Oshocked2.gif That's 10000 time faster %)rolleyes2.gif

In more recent times, I have been upgraded from 768Kbps to 3Mbps at no cost via my service provider. That is 4 times faster... I don't really notice... I thought 768 was already pretty darn fast.

I could never go back to dial-up. O_Oshocked2.gif It's just not in the option book.

But, I am old enough to remember 300bps -- not kbps -- on my Commodore 64. Then, I upgraded to 1200bps. I said I would never go back to 300bps. :zzz:sommeil.gif However, back then we called it "baud" not "bps".

My ears hurt -- or I should say my eyes. B)cool.gif

You must be pretty mad BC... That was a whole lotta cussin :xscotch.gif

Anyway... Sorry to hear about such bad service. Are you tied into a service contract? Can you get out?

Ultima V update:

Grave robbing now works. Now you can dig up bodies from a grave site and search the body for some loot. Pretty morbid huh?

lol, btw any new progress on U5?

I have been working on extracting and reformatting all of the merchant talk strings to incorporate within my remake -- tedious work.

And..

I am nearly complete with a full implementation of "Get" and "Search" on all items; this includes both regenerative and nonregenerative items. I also realized that some items are not always hidden, so I had to add another field to the data structure. Regenerative items are replenished once per day... nonregenerative items never get replenished.

hehe, I feel special... I have U7... not that it works and I'm missing the 1st disk... but it was fun while I had it :Dbiggrin.gif

Ultima VII... I heard Origin Systems (the creators of Ultima at the time) had to basically write their own mini operating system to get around all of the memory limitations of DOS.

If you poll the Ultima fans, you will find that U5 and U7 usually top the list as the best Ultimas.

Someone is porting Exult (Ultima VII) to the GP2X. And, someone else is porting Nuvie (Ultima VI) to the GP2X. :)smile.gif

I also heard some wierdo is porting Ultima V to the TI89/92+... Oh wait... that's me. :Dbiggrin.gif

I dunno if it works on WIndoze XP tho, would be cool if it did (I can get Doom 1, Wolfeinstein 3D and Warcraft 1 to work on it)

It is suppose to... but you need something called MoSlo. It slows you computer down to 1988 speeds (about 5 to 10 Mhz).

i guess the trick is to use as less routines as possible with api, right?

Well... I guess... use what you need to use.

If you need to use it, then you need to use it. If you don't use it, then you will have to code your own function to do the same thing. If you can make it faster or take less memory... then maybe going with your own function is the better choice. :)smile.gif
