Computer Usage and Setup Help / Re: netbooks - what to buy?
« on: September 19, 2010, 03:13:02 pm »
hmm.. what brand of netbooks should I trust? I know there is no netbook specific brand, but the brands that have the higher quality netbooks
From what I've heard... Acer Netbooks have the best keyboard. I have tried many netbook keyboards out at the stores and I must agree.

I ended up purchasing an Acer netbook because I found it at TigerDirect for $200 (no tax and no shipping charges). Then I upgraded the RAM, bought a 9 cell 11 hour battery (for $50 on Amazon), then purchased a touchscreen kit for it on eBay ($70), finally I installed an internal Bluetooth device ($15).

I love my netbook... It plays DirectX 7 games very nicely such as Delta Force 1 & 2. I haven't tried any DirectX 8 games on it though.

If you have any Acer specific questions... I could give you my opinion them.

A new solitaire game for the TI-89...

Pyramid Solitaire

Pairs of cards can be removed if their values total 13. In this game, Jacks are valued at 11, Queens at 12, and Kings at 13. Thus, kings can be removed immediately. Cards must not be covered. Thus when an Ace rests on a Queen, that Queen can not be removed. When going through the draw pile, the cards are drawn one at a time with a selectable number of rotations. To win, remove all the cards from the pyramid pile.

Sort on price... low to high. You will see some incredible deals on some great netbooks. ;)

Also interesting avatar. What is it from?
It is the Running Man sprite from the old Intellivision game console. I love the Intellivision. You may have noticed that my remakes of Astrosmash and Advanced Dungeons & Dragons were originally from the Intellivision.

You have my permission to add Ultima V to the Omnimaga archives. You can even snag a few screenshots from TIFW or Ticalc if you'd like. :)

At some point I plan on an update to Ultima V to correct a few bugs.

Also nice to see you're still around Ranman. :)

Yeah... I'm still hanging around. Though with 2 kiddos, it can be hard to find the time sometimes.

I hope to see a lot of entries in this contest.

Good luck to everyone! The end is near.

Why thank you very much :) Have you tried it out?

I am unable to try it out :(  I do not own a working TI-83/84. I have a TI-89 & TI-92+ though.
