oooh cool, I dont understand the town level thing tho, do you mean the towns has multiple stories or do you mean the npc can move from town to town?

Yes... Multiple stories ;)wink.gif

There are 32 towns (this includes castles, towns, villages, lighthouses, etc). Some towns have only 1 story, some towns have up to 5 stories. Each town has a maximum of 32 NPCs. However, there are a few towns that only have 1 NPC.

There are ladders and stairs to climb up & down. There are also gratings and pit traps that you can climb down or even fall through -- better keep your eyes open. ;)wink.gif

So, you see, each NPC must be smart enough to find a ladder and climb up or down in order to reach the designated town story according to its schedule.

how is it progressing so far?

Slow but sure...

I have almost finished the "cut scene" where all party members have died. And, an apparition of Lord British appears and resurrects the entire party -- for a cost of 50 experience points per party member. The party is teleported to back the castle of Lord British. Btw: if this happens, you only lose experience points, you do not lose any gold or items.  :)smile.gif

I have also been tweaking the NPC movement algorithm for the following 2 cases:

- NPC moving from a different town story (level) to the current town story
- NPC moving from current town story (level) to a different town story

Awesome! :w00t:woot.gif

14Kb of saved memory is amazing with that one simple trick! Do you have anymore tricks up your sleeve?

Keep up the great work! :king:king2.gif

will you have specific location where allowed to save? like in Final fantasy you can save in the center of stone circles or something like that, altough it differs between each games? Of course you can save anywhere on the worldmap

My current plans are to allow saving from any location at any time within both world maps, every town map, and every dungeon map.

I currently do not have plans to support saving from combat maps

harpsicord... will a ukelele be okay? :)smile.gif Or maybe an electric organ on the harpsichord setting? lol Anyways is the specific locations like save points or does it bring you back to just before the battle where you died?

The game only saves when you tell it to save. ;)wink.gif Do you think I should implement an auto save feature?

In the original UV, you could only save when you were in the world map. I will be expanding the save game command to include town and dungeon maps -- but not combat maps.

When everyone in your party dies, no matter where you are, you are taken to the top of the king's castle. His spirit will resurrect the entire party for a small price.

hehe I assume bad stuff happen, right?

Nope... If you get the mantra wrong, the Shrine will simply reply with, "Thy thoughts are unfocused" and send you on your way.

btw in U5 is there that kind of trap where if you do something bad you have to restart the entire game from beginning and your save file is deleted ? I remember a RPG that did that for SNES or PSX

Nope... In Ultima V, you never really die for good. If everyone in your party dies, the spirit of Lord British will bring you all back to life at a specific location; and you will lose some experience though. You can always bypass this method with a ressurrection spell or by visiting a healer.

There are 2 different endings in Ultima V. The ending of choice depends on whether or not you have ALL of the king's items when you finally meet him.

Hint: you better learn to play the harpischord!  :ninja:ninja.gif

Thanks guys!  :)smile.gif

Btw: Don't attempt to use the "ZYT" mantra for the Shrine of Valor (as seen in the previous screenshot)... I temporarily changed the name of the mantra for the screenshot only. :Ptongue.gif:w00t:woot.gif

yeah. wisdom teeth are redundant today. So they're bound to "vanish" from our DNA over time. My younger brother for instance, will only have two wisdom teeth according to the x-ray picture of his jawbone.

Yeah... I am one of the few that never had any wisdom teeth. :)smile.gif

There are times I feel as if I missed out on some important wisdom. :Oo:fou2.gif
