I'm incredibly sorry if I offended anyone in some way, sorry :(sad.gif

 No offense taken. :)smile.gif

Sometimes I wish that I was creating an original game, then I would not be tied down to making it as close to something that already exists. I find myself being overly critical when I compare what I have done to what is already there.

trackballs suck O_O
at least I can't do anything with them... accuracy tending towards 0%

I agree with you concerning most trackballs. I hate thumb trackballs!

Most trackballs are intended for your thumb. However, the Marble Mouse (above) utilizes your fingers. Very nice... Very accurate!!

I have never used a Logitech joystick, so I cannot comment on them.

But, Logitech makes the best trackballs that are very durable. The best way to game is via the keyboard and the Marble Mouse baby! :Ptongue.gif

wow thats cool! Question tho: what is the number of Ultima DarkRunes game? I know Warrior of Destiny is #5, Exodus is #3, etc

According to Athlor, Ultima: Dark Runes is not a remake.

I believe Athlor said that it is loosely based upon ideas within the Gameboy version of Ultima: Runes of Virtue. But, takes place between Ultima 3 and Ultima 4.

Built in LZS compression... That is cool!

On the TI-89 and 92 calcs, I use LZS (or is it LZW) compression extensively.  Otherwise, Ultima V would require about 700Kb. o.oblink.gif However, it is not built in. The compression routines are included in a few programmer tools & libraries -- TTTools and Extgraph.

Nice screenshot! Are you going to use monochrome or grayscale on the Cybiko?

Wow! Those look really cool! B)cool.gif

You should think about starting a topic for Ultima: Dark Runes in the "Featured RPG Projects" section. I would really enjoy reading and seeing how it progresses. ;)wink.gif

Hey... I like that map! Very nice! B)cool.gif

Ultima V has something similar. It has a command to "View" a gem. When you view a gem, you see a zoomed out view of the world map. However, you do not see the entire map. I see that you are using 1 pixel per tile. I am using a 4x4 pixel tile to represent each tile -- you can see this in one of the screenshots. :)smile.gif

The world map in Ultima V is 256x256 tiles (64Kb of map data). There is also an underworld that is 256x256 tiles. No sun or moon in the underworld so it is complete darkness -- you better have a lot of torches or magic light spells. ;)wink.gif

Ultima V for TI calcs is expected to require about 220Kb of Flash memory for game storage. You will need 150Kb of free RAM to play the game. Not too bad considering the original game was 8 floppy disks totaling about 1.2 Megabytes. The good thing... no more swapping floppy disks. ;)wink.gif

How about Ultima: Dark Runes? How big will it be?

I too am an Ultima fan and recognize this is one huge project. I've finished U3, U7 and those 2 Runes of Virtue action rpg's. I started but never finished U4 or U8.
Curious, are you planning to release the source code for porting to other systems. I know of 2 other Ultima projects, like U3 and U4 (in basic) that have.  :unsure:unsure.gif

Ultima IV as well as Ultima V are pretty hard RPGs for their time. I think what makes them so hard (and great) is the fact that they are non-linear. When you first start out, you feel almost lost -- as if you are wandering around aimlessly. As you  transact with the NPCs of the world, you slowly begin to realize the task that has been set before you.

As for releasing the source code, I am sure that I will. But it will not be released immediately with the executable. I have got a lot of cleaning up to do. I currently have about 25000 lines of code stretched across 60 files.

Currently, Ultima V for TI calcs is tied fairly closely with the hardware of the 68K calcs such as graphical limitations, file size limitations, and memory limitations. But, with some tweaks, it could be made to be more portable. It would be nice to see it on more platforms. The same goes for Ultima: Dark Runes. ;)wink.gif

Thanks to everyone for their positive comments! :)smile.gif

Did you think about entering that in a photography contest?

That is amazing!

Ohhh... btw... I am not posting my desktop. It is just a plain, solid, dark blue. Can you imagine that? I am so boring :(sad.gif

The Cybiko is a handheld device. It looks like a mix between a calculator, a Blackberry, and a PDA.

Awesome!! Another Ultima fan! B)cool.gif Welcome to Omnimaga!

I think we are a dying breed... but we know the classic Ultima games rule! ;)wink.gif

Hmmm... The Cybiko and the TI-89 have the exact same screen resolutions. And with a few tricks, the TI-89 is capable of 4 shades of gray too (in reality it is monochrome.)

Can someone say Ultima V on a Cybiko? Or, maybe Ultima Dark Runes on the TI-89?

Is there a C development environment for the Cybiko? What type of tech specs does the Cybiko have?
