That looks cool! lol, runs a little slow on the emulator eh? Hehe.

Actually... No, it is fast enough that I idle the CPU for 20ms between each frame. I was just not moving the Avatar very fast.  ;)wink.gif

News / It has come to my attention...

One thing I have noticed during my short stay at Omnimaga is that you, CDI, are one of the most well respected members of this group. You will be missed when your time comes -- I hope it does not come any time too soon.

Look at me... I'm in my thirties and still having fun programming my silly little calculator. But, I have been in and out too; just as many of us have.

It is all about having fun and enjoying what you do! ;)wink.gif

Here is another screeny:

Notice the empty port before the Avatar enters the towne of Minoc. He quickly walks to the local shipwright to purchase a frigate. After the successful purchase, notice the party gold drops from $2000 to $500.

The Avatar makes a second attempt to purchase a skiff. He has enough gold to do this, but due to the previous purchase, there is no room left at the dock. The Avatar is denied the purhcase.

The Avatar makes a final attempt to purchase another frigate. Knowing full well he does not have enough gold for the purchase, the shoppe owner thinks the Avatar is trying to cheat him. So, the owner throws him out with some choice words!

The Avatar leaves the towne of Minoc and boards his brand new frigate to sail into the sunset.

Note: Hmmm... what is that strange looking stone along the shoreline? Could that be a sealed entrance to a dungeon? How do you move that stone in order to get in? It is rumored that dungeons lead to a vast uncharted underworld.

Compuwiz did apologize -- and relatively quickly I might add. It takes a good person to step forward and do such a thing.

So when a person apologizes, you should forgive that person without holding a grudge. :)smile.gif

I hope everyone at Omnimaga will be able to forgive and forget. ;)wink.gif

Whoah, I checked out the ASUS laptops on Newegg and they are all right except for one thing: The screens! They only have crappy WXGA's. So... imagine a 17? widescreen 1280*768 screen! YUCK! :x

Ewww! Cough, cough, choke. Blah... :oohmy.gif

If I were to buy (or ask) for a 17" laptop, I would definitely go all the way baby -- WUXGA 1920x1200. :Ptongue.gif

Other Calculators / ridiculously fast sprite routine by me

I just wrote a routine which can display 96 8*8 sprites in 20 seconds in pure Basic.  :Ptongue.gif

Did you achieve this on a TI-83+? Or, are we talking about the faster Z80 calcs (TI-83+SE, TI-84+, TI-84+SE)?

I'm just curious.  :)smile.gif

I vote for no scrolling too... Alex is right. No matter how many screen buffers you have, a complete LCD refresh cycle is not good enough. If scrolling is too fast, then the screen will be burry.

I finally looked at the N-Game on the internet. Wow!! O_O What a cool game! Great idea for a port!

Let me know if you ever get stuck or need an idea.

I just sent my old Sony GRX 650 in for repair (finally)! :)smile.gif

$150 to $200 to fix it. Is it worth it? Probably not. :(sad.gif

The laptop is 4 years old. Here are the specs:

1.8 GHz P4M <_<dry.gif
512 MB Ram =|mellow.gif
30 GB HDD  =|mellow.gif
Radeon 7500 w/32 MB dedicated video <_<dry.gif
8 Lbs o.oblink.gif
2 hour battery life :(sad.gif
...and the most important...
16.1" screen with 1600x1200 native resolution B)cool.gif:wub:wub.gif

This laptop is so old, I probably could not sell it for more than $500. And, you may think I am crazy for spending the money to get it fixed. But, I am in love with the screen.

XGA 1028x768 = 789504 pixels :lol:laugh.gif
WXGA 1200x800 =960000 pixels :(sad.gif
WSXGA 1440x900 = 1296000 pixels :(sad.gif
SXGA 1280x1024 = 1310720 pixels :(sad.gif (has anyone realized this is not a standard aspect ratio?)
SXGA+ 1440x1050 = 1512000 pixels  <_<dry.gif
WSXGA+ 1680x1050 = 1764000 pixels :)smile.gif:Ptongue.gif
UXGA 1600x1200 = 1920000 pixels :)smile.gif:wub:wub.gif
WUXGA 1920X1200 = 2304000 pixels  :oohmy.gif:wub:wub.gif

To me desktop real estate is the most important factor followed by graphics card and then CPU/memory.

But that is just me. ;)wink.gif
