Hi @c4ooo, Can you be a bit more specific? AFAICT a nibble is just a set of 4 bits glued together; why don't you just shift-right by a constant of multiple of 4, or do you something else on your mind/question?

Well, I'm not sure I completely understood what you're trying to achieve.
I think you are trying to read the LUA document which is inside the TNS document. Is that correct?

Like the title says, I have a few TNS documents that I'd like to modify via LUA but they aren't readable in the TNS format.
Hi @Kyle Kelly and welcome to Omnimaga! Some years ago (Sep' 12) I played a bit with TNS and LUA documents and wrote a windows utility that let's you look inside a TNS LUA-document. Please click on the link in my signature "XML2TXT, XML2LUA, TXT2XML, LUA2XML and 2TNS", have a look at the post(s) and see if it can be of any help. (Unfortunately, the screenies are gone  ).

So...I'd like to get ya'lls take on ASM...
I've always been interested in learning it, but it seems so foreign of a computer language...is it worth the trouble to learn? Should I stick with axe?
What's the ups and downs? Is there much difference between ti 83 & 84 ASM?

Well, Do you already know how girls work? If you do, you can learn ASM next, if not, look around for a higher level approach. More seriously, ASM is a journey to the bolts-and-nuts on how the processor language was designed, you might or might not like the raw material's view. Sometimes it looks ugly down there, but for others is just a wonderful discovery. See, it all depends. I'd say give it a go, oh and BTW, ASM changes with the cpu, hehe.

Hi @APoloG13, If you want just to plot some graphs out of data, Excel is probably the easiest way to go. Eventually you'll just need to learn a bit of BASIC language. IMO you just need to start somewhere, so start with Excel's plotting facilities. Next, take a '<What ever language you like> for Dummies' book and try to get the same results. You see, there are no 'free lunches' you'll have to spend some time learning how to use a programming language. Have a great rest of this 2016 year. Wish you all the best for 2017.

Well, then i think you are just asking for programming advice. IMO before porting the concept to a calculator (which, by definition, has much more limited resources) I would advise you to try out your algorithms, on a desktop computer, using a high level language, for instance Java, which is pretty easy, with many examples to be found on the net. Next, once the program behaves according to your expectations you could port it to a calc using, for instance, Lua which is readily available for TI-Nspire. At first it may seem a duplication of efforts, but again IMO, you being a beginner, it can save you lots of debugging time.

Sometimes you get lost. Current times are a mess. 'Lost between times' is the way forward. It's kinda nice you've just missed this year's POTY (less fame bound can also be cool at times  ).

Well, i'd say that M$ is looking for some profit opportunity, as usual btw (nothing wrong with that in this Trump's era). Regarding the virus-like stuff, unfortunately nowadays almost every big company does it in total impunity, and there's seems to be no solution in the near future (say 30 years or so from now). Only to name a few like Google, Facebook, etc, etc. My advice, be a bit suspicious before joining their widely advertised as open communities (including open source code), because very often it is just an "under the belt" trick. However, M$ is, as a matter of fact, a lot more better structured organization unlike the Linux folks. So in general, we might expect some Linux's products quality improvements.
