It mostly depends. I got myself a Logitech G430 at best buy this summer for $50 and it does sound pretty good though the mic generates noise. It's pretty sturdy too. But yeah the Beats/DrDre crap is probably one cause to this (I've been told the sound is not that good BTW).

I have a 7970 and it's quite a beast. Though these are fairly big so I recommend a large case (it's pretty close to the HDD bay in my Zalman Z11 plus).
