I'm wondering if there are actual terms to describe some common fractions. For instance: If you're looking at 1/2, you can say that the relevant object we're talking about is "halved." You can also look at 1/4 and say the relevant object is "quartered." These are about the only terms I know of to describe fractions. What I would like to find are similar terms to describe fractions such as 2/3 and 1/3. What do we say about an object that is only two thirds of its whole?
Surely, there would be a list of such terms somewhere.

Hmm. When I try to send a message, I get an internal server error. Temporary problem?
EDIT: The message was actually posted, though. I just now noticed.

If the A.I. is plotting a move for over a minute, that's definitely too long. The player is going to think the game has become unresponsive. I'm thinking no more than 6 seconds or so - if that's feasible.

By the way - I wanted to elaborate on the bit of intro text I used. This was a quote from Anaximander. (the philosopher, whom I incidentally named my protagonist after)
Whence things have their origin, Thence also their destruction happens, According to necessity; For they give to each other justice and recompense For their injustice In conformity with the ordinance of Time.
This can be applied many ways. I think Anaximander intended it to mean, "All things are driven by mutual checks and balances." You could also interpret it as something more specific; like, "By necessity, all things that begin must end. By the very nature of their existence, life and death grant balance and restitution to one another."
It's kind of a fitting sentiment, because of the nature of the game's protagonist. Spoiler: The Abyss wants nothing more than to compress all life back into its origin, which would draw all currently-living things into destruction.

Seems like I heard somewhere that dance genres were pretty popular in Germany. I guess that may be true, given that even Sailor Moon had a pretty upbeat theme song.

Personally, I don't mind where the IRC section is positioned, either way. As long as I have my standard "Lastest Topics" list, I'm a happy camper.

lol, you reserved command codes for them already? Planning for any other contingencies I don't know about yet?

Damn. The German Sailor Moon intro was more awesome than all the rest. Lucky Germans. I wonder how heavily censored it was, though. I remember human violence in the media was a touchy subject in Germany. Contra (the video game series) was censored to the point that every character was replaced with a robot so it wouldn't seem like a ton of human-on-human violence. Also - more Sailor Moon goodness:

Actually, I already do minimize the "Recently Added" section. I don't really use it. Minimizing other sections doesn't expand the ones you have open, though. (as far as I know)
When I logged-in today, the "Latest Posts" section was expanded again. I like how this currently looks; although, it would also be fine to place the IRC activity log above that section. People who don't use it can just minimize it so it doesn't obstruct their view.

Not to nitpick, but I really like the "Latest Post" display in the forum index. I use it all the time to keep an eye on threads I've participated in. Now that the list is much smaller, it's a bit harder to ascertain many threads at once. Usually, there are a few other posts or threads appearing between threads I've been active in. The larger display was just the right number for me, based on how often I participate in the forums.
Could there be an option to expand the list to its larger view again?

Oh, don't get me wrong - I'm not condoning it. Even if someone believes being rough on a person is necessary, that doesn't mean it's the appropriate way to handle the situation. Different people have different sensibilities.

I think the biggest complications would result from compression. Trying to insert any new data, as far as I know, is really difficult.

I'm not sure what the situation is with your father. I know some parents are so guilted by their own failures they might push their children to strive for better opportunities. Your father, in his own way, may believe he is trying to help you toughen-up and get your priorities straight. On the other hand, he could also simply be a bad parent. I don't know anything about him.
Either way - if the situation is uncomfortable for you, it would be a good idea to start planning for some kind of safety net. If you're going to school, you might want to look into housing options and financial aid. (FAFSA, if we're talking about the U.S.) There are some other programs to consider, too; like student housing. Without actually holding a job while you're still managing school, you can get by with a somewhat frugral, federal income. It might beat living with your father.

Jeu d'esprit. It was a light-hearted remark. I hoped the smiley would have indicated the context better.

It wouldn't be difficult to create a few animation assets. Off the top of my head, we would need:
- Single bitmap of a fire animation, flipped back and forth to give the illusion of a burning effect
- Single bitmap of a snowflake / icicle, blinking on top of targets to indicate ice-based spells
- A bolt of lightning, flipped back and forth to give the illusion of a lightning-strike
Each of these may need to be masked. They could possibly be handled in a similar fashion as character sprites, which use 3-level grayscale. The fourth gray is sort of reserved as a mask, or a value that the system reads as transparent. I'm not quite sure how Iambian handled that.
Either way - I'm not sure if we even have the memory. This is entirely up to Iambian, since he knows more about this than I do. I don't want to propose any additions that are going to make the process much more complicated.
