Lua / Re: Lua and 3.2
« on: June 08, 2012, 09:52:59 am »
Hmm, I thought there would be some loaded libs already when on.construction gets fired, but if it's not the case, then I don't really see the point of having that event since init stuff can be put outside of any functions at the end of the programs for example and it would behave the same way ... ?

What I know (so far) is that they gotremoved not (mainly?) because of the attachments, but because of the sole and clearly claimed cheating purposes, which netham said was against the rules of Omni.

The script editor looks very handy for writing Lua. They also have updated documentation here for the new functions.
Ah, good, they finally updated it :)
This documentation, in that state, is exactly what I'm trying to put on http://wiki.inspired-lua.org but ... in a better way :P
See by yourself : [lua]gc:drawString[/lua], [lua]cursor.set[/lua] ...
I don't know what I'll do about the huge physics part....
Also, summary for changes in 3.2 : http://wiki.inspired-lua.org/Changes_in_OS_3.2

As far as I know, most major standardized tests (The SAT/ACT for one) and their proctors do not even know about PTT on the Nspire or even the 83/84...
Actually, they do, and it's one of the point of it.
Don't think TI put a led pu there for fun :P

oh, I thought it would give the ability for lua on calc x.x
oh well, Jimbauwens needs to teach me ^.^

You technically can program on-calc, using programs like OcLua :)
But it's quite tedious with the nspire keyboard....
Also, if you want to learn Nspire-Lua : http://www.inspired-lua.org and http://wiki.inspired-lua.org for the API

@Hoffa :
You know I respect what you do and I'm extremely glad you made stuff like nSDL, because that's the kind of programs that's useful, at least that's what I think.

We were just messing a bit on this topic because I think these kind of internal wars about PTT etc. shouldn't even happen. It's ridiculous to fight about these 'issues' and this is how we showed it. Accept my apologies for this n00bish behavior but I couldn't resist. Talking about "cheating" etc. like the way you did just made me laugh a bit ("miserable hobo" part) at least that's a good part in these topics.
(Also, you're speaking about decency etc. but you've been swearing...).

Anyway, enough on these fighting topics, it's ridiculous.

Oh my, this is just amazing!
Are you also going to add google docs support so students can exchange stuff ?

Well that would be cool, but linking it to Wolfram|Alpha's API would be even cooler. What about it ?
here's the page : http://products.wolframalpha.com/api/

The Steps display for calculus things are really good for students, especially for cheaters during tests

It does work.

Just install it as usual :)

Something like :
nspire_emu /1=boot1cx.raw /MXC /PB=boot2cx.img  /PO=os32.tcc

What can I say ... ?

Good for a technical point of view, sure, but it can only separate even more the community from TI since this tool is really pointless for most of us here who don't use PTT ...
I guess the whole point of this is to annoy TI, but then how would you dare (not you specifically but you know what I mean) requesting some more openness from TI ?

:(

Anyways... Back to OS 3.2. I heard someone say it's coming out next week.  I thought it was delayed?

Release tomorrow, most probably.
News are written already, so don't bother doing that (<- message to whoever wants to :P)

Also a bug report, only on the /ndless/ folder tho (so far), when I go down the list of files, the list doenst follow (I mean, it doesnt scroll), so we don't see the cursos anymore, since it's offscreen.
