News / Re: TI-Planet arithmetic contest !
« on: April 04, 2013, 03:29:28 pm »
EDIT @ adriweb: I would never see a z80 as an inferior calc. In fact I place the z80 and the nspire at about the same level.
Well, I was more talking about raw power and price, too , actually.

Not to sound weird or so but shouldn't the prizes be in reverse? I for one would prefer a z80 for winning an nspire contest and vice versa.
It's what I would have done too, but the vote turned out to get otherwise...

The argument for doing what we did is that at least, the Nspire winner won't have an "inferior" calc, and the z80 winner will probably see the 84 pocket.fr as un upgrade too.

Ok I'm confused. The PDF lists the prizes as:
Quote from: The rules translated
ARTICLE 6: Staffing
Competitions organized by TI-Planet will feature several awards. All lots, specified below
below, will be shared between the events of the competition.
● 5x (five) TI-Nspire CX CAS (unit value: 150 €)
● 3x (three) TI-Nspire CX (unit value: € 13 0)
● 2x (two) TI-84 Pocket.fr (unit value: 100 €)
● 3x (three) TI-83 Plus.fr (unit value: € 90)
● 3x (three) TI-82 Stats.fr (unit value: € 70)
● 3x (three) TI-Collège Plus (unit value: € 18)
The website reserves the right to add additional lots.

Your post however only lists two prizes. Which is correct?
I also want a clarification, are there only two categories? One being Nspire and one being Z80? It looks as though all Z80 regardless of language is being judged together. If someone who's judging could answer, that'd be great.

The PDF file is the rules for the 2013 event (which is, actually : several contests during the year). The prizes for this specific contest are the one listed on this topic.
(the meaning in english is that all the prizes specified below will be shared between the several TI-Planet 2013 contests."

It certainly is promising, are you interested in participating to the TI-Planet contest ? :)

Since this is highly conflicting as the TI-Planet contest going on right now, I guess anyone who wants to do this would like to participate to the contest (and not publish stuff before the end) ;)

We'll very soon translate the contest rules/topic :)

Ah ok thanks for clarifying :). All I knew is that your current team pretty much contributed 95% of the 2009-11 activity since the admin was less active at the time and due to critor's heavy amount of discoveries. I think you joined in 2007 but at some point went less active until 2009 or so, right?
I indeed joined in 2007, and at the time, the forum was pretty much my home page, wether I actually posted or not. I started being very active alter, yeah.

That's why I think giving the choice is probably the best way to go.
And social interaction is a good way to gain popularity, so....

-HOWEVER, nLaunch CX is still not flagged as a prank. Does it mean it's actually real? O.O
We said it wasn't :P (the other things, we didn't say wether they were or not :D)

Some things :
- you forgot Excale to the thank-you list
- I was the one who made the okay-looking photoshops :P (at first, we weren't even sure if we were gonna use them ^^)
- oops we still have "OmnomIRC" as the title of tiplanet's chat :P
- lol at "ComicTech" x)
- I think ticalc's ideas listed in their fake news would provide them way more good if they actually made them happen (except the flash/java things, ofc)
