Humour and Jokes / TI is lying!

EPIC LIE!
Quote from: What the F*ck?

Can I enter text in lower case on the TI-83 family, TI-84 Plus family, or TI-Nspire handheld in TI-84 Plus mode?

It is not possible to enter lower case letters directly on the TI-83 family, TI-84 Plus family, or TI-Nspire in TI-84 Plus mode. However, users with a TI-83 Plus family, TI-84 Plus family, or TI-Nspire in TI-84 Plus mode have an option available.

Upper and lower case letters may be entered by using the NoteFolio™ App for the TI-83 Plus and TI-84 Plus Family.

This App will work with the TI Keyboard, however, it is important to note that the TI Keyboard will not enter lower case letters on its own.

Please see the TI-83 family and TI-84 Plus family guidebooks for additional information.

Note: TI-Nspire in TI-84 Plus mode users may refer to the TI-84 Plus family guidebook.

I'm confused xD

I figured out, that if the exponents differ (significand length)+2, you don't have to operate?

Also, alberthrocks, could you send the PMs to me? thx.

O.o Awesome. How many digits can it handle?

Edit: :O Its binary. I have no clue how to handle that in Axe... :,(

Could you explain how the TI-OS works, then? (I mean, with the exponents like 99)

Ouch, but we're making this for a CAS... can't I use just exponent+100 or so?

O.O but that only gives you 30 exponents? Maybe you mean exponent+150?

aeTIos has made a TRON game in Axe before with calc linking I think.
I didnt O.O Im not a genius lol

I re-made my floating point add routine. Is this a good IEEE 754 doc? http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~wkahan/ieee754status/IEEE754.PDF

Edit:
The format of my floats is this:
2.544 E4  would be
402544

Exponent-negative?-mantissa. There are no negative exponents now, when I add support for it, the exponent is increased by 256 (so 001337 would be 1.337 E-256)
Any suggestions?

Edit2: My idea for division: Use old-school methods.
Code: [Select]
102
 10 /
----
10 * 10

remainder: 2
do the remainder *10
returns 20
divide remainder
20
10 /
---
2*10

so first decimal is 2

repeat until there is no remainder left

Answer: 10.2
