TI Nspire - 84 Keypad = A calc with no reason to have interchangeable keypads. TI really shot themselves in the foot with this one, as some tests (I forget if it's the SAT or ACT) don't allow calcs with keypads that slide out. Bad TI.
As far as I know, the regular Nspire (w/ changing keypads) is allowed on both the SAT and ACT. The CAS is banned on the ACT just because it has a CAS.

wait, so if this happens to me, should I get new keypad or nspire?
It is kind of hard to tell. If you test more than one keypad (clickpads and touchpads) and the problem is there for all of them, it is probably the Nspire. (I really don't want to get mine replaced because I will most likely get the new dark blue one which will look strange with the clickpad--I'd rater put up with this problem than have that). If just one keypad stops working, it is most likely the keypad.

Ok, I got a little time to work on this last night, and I made some progress on the Nspire part. Most of the things I added were internal modifications to the game engine, but I never posted the little walking animation I did (which was done about a week ago). It is not final yet, and the animation is only 2 frames, but I think it looks kindof nice! Also, there is still no animation on up/down movements. Only left and right. The up/down animation is coming soon.

ok. note: on the gbc emulator. It freezes if i play pokemon pinball!..... any onelse have that prob?
I have had roms freeze before. It could also just be a small fault in the emulator preventing the game from being emulated. Most of the roms that I have tried have worked, but there have been a few that crashed.

Yes, the new Nspires (the dark blue ones) do not come with the 84+ keypad in the package--the only way to get one is to request for one from TI for free. Phasing out the 84+ is the only motivation for this I can think of. It certaintly costs more to send it in the mail/lose sales because of not including it than it would to just include it with the calculator. I hope that TI does not kill any calcs when they release the next OS (which I have read will have 3d graphs). Since the Nspire CAS would then have the CAS features of the 68k calcs, it gives them a perfect excuse to kill the line . Also, since the new OS does not support the 83+, I fear that that is on its way out too.

I think it is a little strange that they don't just include the keypad. I would think that it would boost sales a lot. The keypads can't cost too much to produce since the touchpads (the one I would think would be most expensive to produce) is only ten dollars, and that comes with a lisence for the computer software. Just another think that TI does that I can't understand...

Yep, the clickpad would work fine with OS 1.1. The touchpad was released after the clickpad, so it is not compatible with newer OSs. If Ndless 2 comes out, it will be compatible with the touchpad (the current programs, like gbc4nspire, would not be compatible, new versions would have to be compiled to work with the different keypad mappings) Unfortunately, you will have problems plugging the ClickPad in, since TI intentionally changed the shape of their hardware.
That is only with the Nspire CAS (the black one). The regular Nspire is fine I believe.

Make sure you are holding the keys down when the progress bar is about half way though. That is when boot 2 will pick up the key press. Also, try pulling the batteries, and turn it back on while holding these keys. It may take a few seconds. Keep holding the keys down until the menu pops up.

Doc, EE, Enter, On. Also, I have had that kind of reset happen to me once when I had problem installing Ndless. It is a bit scary.

Sorry, the key combo is different for the touchpad, but I can't remember what it is now (sorry ). I am sure some one who knows it will post it here soon. I am looking on other TI sites now to try to find it.

While it is loading Boot 1 (the screen with the progress bar--when it first starts), press home, enter, p, and on at the same time. Choose option 2 (delete OS), and send any OS you want.

Make sure you are not using the touchpad. OS 1.1 is not compatible with the touchpad keypad.
If you want to buy a clickpad, you can buy it from TI in their online store on their website.

Yes, only Trapped will be ported.
Also, the only progress I have made on this is porting the drawing engine to TIGCC for the 89. I have been working on 1 or 2 other Nspire projects lately, as well as getting ready for school, so progress is very slow. I am hoping to have this released sometime around Christmas, but this is dependent on how much free time I have during the school year.
