Well, I switch my keypad a lot. When in OS 1.1, I removed it a lot because of the Power Management bug. In OS 2.0, I use the 84 keypad quite a bit. I don't think it is the keypad that is causing this; I strongly believe this is the actual handheld itself because the same exact problem exists with both the touchpad and clickpad keypads. It might have something to do with that certain row and column in the keypad mappings, as the column for the on key is not used in 84+ mode, explaining why it turns on immediately using that keypad. I have e-mailed TI about this. I hope they have a solution. Also, the paper trick did not work for me. Is there any specific spot where you put the piece of paper? I tried several positions, none of which worked. Likewise, how big of a piece of paper should I be using? Also, I wonder what would happen if I removed the two silver spring-like things right by the connector. They seem to be preventing the keypad from moving too close to the connector (it seems as if the piece of paper allows the keypad to get closer). Another intresting thing is that this did not occur at all in OS 1.1 (I was always able to hit on, enter to turn it on w/ calc84's program). I wonder if this could be another power management bug? I will try downgrading to 1.7 tonight to see if it still exists. EDIT: I just downgraded to OS 1.7 and this problem does not exist at all any more. Could this be a problem related to OS 2.0 like the Power Management Bug in OS 1.1? Sadly, OS 1.7 is of no use to me since all of my math/science documents are written in 2.0 documents. I wonder if a fix is out there. EDIT AGAIN: Well, the problem came back after a little while on OS 1.7, so I upgraded again to 2.0. It is only taking two presses at max to turn on, but I am sure it will get worse.

Actually, there is not too much available for the Nspire now (aside from gbc4nspire). ticalc.org only has 2 nspire games, excluding gbc4nspire. A snake game and Block Dude (by myself ). Also, you should definately check out bwang's Nspire Picture Viewer (for .bmp images) and his Raycaster. There are not too many programs available for the Nspire now, mainly because Ndless is still very new and there are not too many Nspire developers yet. I am sure that the amount of programs available will pick up greatly in the next few years. There are a few games in development now that should be out within the next few months. If you need any gameboy roms, just look around the internet, they are not hard to find (much easier that OS 1.1 ).

Glad to hear you found it!
calc84 did not actually make a patch for it, he made a program that resets the calculator, thus making the screen turn on. To use it, you have to make sure you have the document selected as you turn it off (basically, leave it so pressing enter would activate this document). Then, press on and then enter to reset the calculator. If you forget to select this document before turning it off, you can navigate to it without the screen on. I would suggest placing it in a folder named "a". Then if you forget to select it you can hit on, home, 6, up a few times to get to the top, left to close the folder if it is open, right to open the folder, and enter to select the document. It is attached. Good luck!

Well, after upgrading my OS to 2.0.0.1188, I am experiencing some weird problems (some of which I experienced before installing Ndless, only worse now), also I have the old blue Non CAS Nspire.
I am finding that I have to press the on key two or three times to turn the calculator on with the click pad and touch pad keypads (this problem is not present in 84+ mode). Pushing up on the keypad to make the connectors touch always makes the Nspire turn on with the first press. Could this be caused by the keypad and the Nspire not making enough contact? If so, is there any way I can fix this? Having to press on two or three times is almost as annoying as the power management bug. Thinking back to when I first got my Nspire, this problem did exist, but it was very rare, so I doubt this has to do with the usage of Ndless. Now it is happening every time I try to turn my calc on.
Also, when I first put this OS back on, this problem did not exist; it only started this morning, after not using the calculator for three days.
Another odd thing that happened was when I put the touchpad keypad in at one point, the calculator did not recognize it as an official TI keypad and would not boot. I do not get this message anymore (I rebooted and it was fine), but I thought I would report it in case it is anything important.

Welcome to Omnimaga!
It is nice to see some more 68k programmers coming here. The 68k community seemed completely dead a month or two ago, but now I have been seeing a few new projects come out. Hopefully the 68k community will rise again!

I am not sure about this, as I have never really used the 84+ emulator too much, but, I would think it does because I have been able to run "The Impossible Game" on it, which uses these pages (I think).

The only other hint I will give you is look though a famous Nspire thread on United TI (sorry if you looked earlier, I said TI-Bank by accident).

Sorry, but none of the members of the forums can give you this OS. Also, we don't provide links because another TI website, TI-Bank, recieved a DMCA for hosting this OS. Although a link would not technically be hosting it, we do not want to get into any trouble with TI. There are places out there where you can get this OS. The only help I will give you is that the full version number is 1.1.9253 for NON CAS. Google is your friend. Good luck!

Yeah, I have seen several problems with Ndless 1.1. Right now, it is best to use Ndless 1.0. If you need Computer Link 1.3, you can get it from TI-Bank. Good Luck

At this point, it is much easier to port games from the Nspire to 68k calcs than it is to port games from 68k to the Nspire. The 68k series already has just about everything the Nspire has (I can't think of anything it dosen't), so it really just a matter of making some slight syntax changes. (For example, the sprite function is different for both calcs). Right now, we don't have all of the functions for the Nspire as we do for the 89. Hopefully in the future we will have all of the functions the 89 has for the Nspire and the job of porting games to the Nspire should be quite easy!

Quick question--I already have boot 2 1.4. What is the difference?
The TNO/TNC update file is stored in the TI-Nspire filesystem ( /phoenix/install ). It's that file that is being sent when updating another calculator.
As you allready have boot2 1.4, the 1.4 boot2 copy which is compressed in the TNO/TNC file is totally useless. You're wasting 1Mb... just remove it with TNOC!
Thanks critor! I am going to have to upgrade to 2.0 soon for school . I will be sure to use this tool to save me some space!
