1. Thhis iss, baad
I could not agree more. 2. I didnt try it out, but it seems all that "new math functions" is a bunch of hyped up crap, only feature is the block
This is completely true. Also, they added some new features for teachers, most likely to get them to upgrade everyone's OS. 3. Damnit, just damnit
I could not have said it better.

Okay, which brings me to question 2: would it work on Windows 7? The site doesn't list 7, but it does list Vista, and I assume it could be out of date.
I am running Windows 7 and it works fine. To be honest, I'm not sure, which brings me to question 3: are there any advantages to writing 68k programs in flash apps, rather than normal programs?
None that I know of. Actually, as stated earlier, since TI Flash Studio uses an older version of C, you might have some disadvantages by using that.

This. is. WAR! I could imagine what a lot of talk in that google group is like
Some of their discussion makes me sick because they praise some of the useless features of the nspire and say bad things about ndless. I only read it to find out news about the Nspire, like this. This is also where I found out about OS 2.1. You are right, this is war. The community has to do something to stop this. Maybe we can prepare a ton of C/ASM programs for the Nspire to be released at the same time and then get a large feature on ticalc.org to try to lure users into sticking with OS 1.1?

While reading the Google group about the TI-Nspire (basically a group of teachers who are against ASM programs) someone said: I would imagine in March when the next version of the OS is realsed, you would see some things to get excited about. This worries me. If it has some things "to get excited about" it might motivate people to upgrade their OS, making even more Nspires not compatible with Ndless.

Microsoft JVM is not available directly from Microsoft, but I found it on a third party website and I got TI Flash Studio working . I have never really tried to make a flash app for a 68k calc, but I have always wondered if this was possible. TI Flash Studio does not use the same syntax as TIGCC/GCC4TI so I can not copy and paste code to it, but I think I did make a small app once when I first got TI Flash Studio working that cleared the screen or something. If I am not mistaken, TI Flash Studio allows you to write flash apps in C. EDIT: You should be able to download Microsoft JVM from one of the links on this website: http://java-virtual-machine.net/download.html. I think it is the site I used.

Yeah, you are right about that. I haven't been following this topic too closely, and don't have much knowledge about signing keys methods of factoring them. It would be really nice if we could crack this key. We need to come back in the battle we are now losing!

I still think this would take a very long time even if it only did 3. I really don't think we will ever crack this key until (if) some other method for cracking 1024 bit keys is released. Nevertheless, it is always worth trying. If we succeed, the TI community will probably be famous and we will strike back in the war TI has started with OS 2.1.

That is strange that they suddenly stopped supporting ASM programs. I would think that TI started developing the TI-Nspire in 2004, about three years before it came out. Maybe TI asked teachers what they wanted to see in a new calculator and they asked for games to be blocked?

Seeing that they did it with the Nspire, I fear that they (TI) could probably block ASM on the 83/84 or 68k calcs. But, especially with the 68k calcs, I highly doubt they will because they don't really care about these series of calcs anymore.

Wow, that docking station looks like a mass execution device for Nspires (wait, that is what it is ). Dosen't it seem odd that it can transfer 2.1 to a lower OS, but not documents to a lower OS. You are correct, the war has begun and we need to strike back! I am glad the teachers in my school don't use Nspires. I would fight back if I was forced to upgrade my OS. On a side note, can a teacher force me to upgrade my operating system?

I was actually considering doing this myself when the new keypads first came out, but I was too cheap to buy the keypad from TI's website. I think the CAS keypad will fit into the regular Nspire. It is curved at the top but I think that would only prevent the regular Nspire keypads (particularly the 84 one) from fitting into the Nspire CAS. Sadly, I doubt this method would work because I think it is the signing keys that will not allow the OS to be sent, not the keypad.

I thought that Ndless 2 was going to be for 1.7 and 2.0. I think I read that they did not have it working right on 2.0 yet and they were waiting to release it until they had it working on that OS.

It would be nice to release Ndless for OS 1.7 now...
That would be nice now. It is probably the best way to get back at TI. Although, If we want to keep with a French Revolution theme, we should wait until August 26, the day the last part of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen was adopted. Or, for us, we should right the Declaration of the Rights of Calculators and of TI-Nspire Users.

This is sad news. I knew TI would do something like this.
