Trapped for the TI-Nspire and TI-89 / Re: Block Dude in Lua

Hum... I wonder if its possible to save the level data to like 1.2 - 1.whatever

That would be possible, but I think I would then have to include the game code on each page also...

Space wise, it would probably be better to keep them on 1 page

I didn't know the 83+ game was a port of a DOS game, though. I was sure it was the original. O.O

It was based on "Block-man 1" by Soleau Software. Levels 1-10 of Block Dude are pretty much identical to levels A-J of Block-man (levels 11+ are new).

Very interesting, Goplat!

I was just thinking, in order to keep things original/different, maybe I will include all of the "Block Man" levels in the Lua version, and keep the "Block Dude" levels in the C version! :)

My first BASIC program was a simple math program (I don't think it was a quadratic, as I have no need with an 89 :P)

My first C program was a port of Stephan Bauwens' Ballz for the 89. :)

hey scout apcalc, do you want my help porting block dude?

EDIT:thank you for the correction stefan  ;)

I thank you for your offer, but since this is being heavily based on my previous Block Dude in C, all I really need to do is change the syntax around.  In fact, I am really just about done with this! :)

I have copied the information from this google doc to Hackspire:

Feel free to make any edits :)

Yes, I also agree with ExtendeD on this.  Hackspire contains the majority of the current known information about Nspire coding/hacking, why not make it more complete with this?

In order to become acquainted with the Lua language for the Nspire, I have decided to port Block Dude to Lua!  This is in extremely early stages, and, at this point, my knowledge of Lua is still quite low.  Nevertheless, some basic features are currently working:

Hopefully, this will progress quickly! :)

Is it so horrible to have one? It's free, and you have one for everything.

Well, its not so much that critor can't make a google account, but if others come across that link in hopes of programming on the Nspire, and are prompted for a password without an account, they might be discouraged and give up trying to get more information.  I personally hate having to log into UTI every time I need to download something from there. :(

Miscellaneous / Re: Calculator Programming Folder Organization
« on: April 14, 2011, 03:52:05 pm »
In my "Documents" folder, I just use the two folders created by TI-Connect and TI-Nspire Computer Link, "MyTIData" and "TI-Nspire", respectively.

Inside those folders, I think I have a "Development" one in the Nsipre folder which contains folders for each of my individual projects, and a folder "GCC4TI" in the mytidata one for 89 projects.

I am also wondering, APCalc, do you have plans on porting your "Block-Dude" game over to System 3.0?

I have already started to work on a Lua port of Block Dude! :)

Likewise, as soon as AP Tests are over, I plan on updating all of my projects to make them Ndless 2.0 compatible, releasing nPlayer, working on Chip's Challenge, etc... :)

I have a beta of your Chips Challenge program. It looks very promising. I hope you keep up the good work with it.

And for your video player, have you considered using lower-resolution videos that don't take up the whole screen to save on space?

That is an excellent idea, indeed!  I will look into this... :)

I wonder if TI makes these changes to the TI-Nspire just to keep us busy...

Another thing I am wondering - could TI have added this to keep us satisfied and quiet?

Although this language is powerful for game development, I would think it would be near impossible to write a program such as gbc4nspire/ndoom/RunOS in this language.  Might they just be giving up a little in order to prevent disaster for themselves????
