Elimination / Re: Elimination: Detecting objects as enemies

How about only having enimies? scenery never looks good until you are a foot away from it. It is like your character is nearsighted ;D

NOO!! I wants scenery!

I also think the gray arrows look totally fine. I would probably prefer to play a game with the gray arrows as opposed to without.

Happybob - I like it.

Erm, I don't really understand Calc84's idea. Can you explain it to me like I'm five? (brownie points for getting the reference)

TI Z80 / Action-Adventure Puzzle Platformer RPG (Idea)
« on: October 04, 2011, 05:09:43 pm »
So, I have this idea. I'm not making it into a game (yet :)) because I have other stuff to do, but I probably will in a few months or so, when I can get around to making the time.

I like RPGs, but I feel like they lack something. And I like Platformers, but I feel like they lack something. So I want to make a combination of the two! I'll use Zedd and Axe Parser and any other libraries or whatever else I'll need. I kind of have a basic roadmap in my mind for what this will be like: pretty much, you have to go through several worlds, like probably about five. Each of these worlds will have five to ten levels. And for each world, the focus is different. Like in World 1, you push blocks around, like a better physics version of Block Dude. In world 2, it's some kind of Shift/Spacky 2 type game, or like Darl's Dimension Shift. In world 3, it might be some kind of a gravity-switching world. In world 4, it'll probably be some kind of heavily action-oriented world with lots of different guns and/or vehicles, and lots of really smart enemies and stuff like that. And then I'll add any other worlds I feel like, or that sound cool, like maybe some form of Pocket Bomberman (GBC) or something like that.

But the thing is: in the last world, it combines and brings together all the skills you got from beating all the other worlds. So World 1 will start out really easy, and then the very last level of the last world is SUPER INSANELY HARD. So yeah. That's my idea.

Darl181, and leafiness0 - I really do not want to rip off your guys ideas for your games (Graviter, Essence, DS, etc) so I want you to know anything I make will be very substantially different than your guys's implementation of the same/similar concept.

I think the speed looks fine!

I could make it an app, tho I'd have to mod it to use external appvars b/c it uses SMC extensively.

That or I could take out the three-something Buff(768)→GDB#

Yeah, it's not so bad, though (take it from someone who's had to convert a few GDB-heavy programs into apps with about a billion appvars :P). But the end result is worth it!

It doesn't use Full due to a getKey bug or something and I'm not using CrabCake's 15mhz mode so yes :)
(yes I'm using crabcake, that's how big it's getting :P)

Can you please make it into an app?
* buttsfredkin makes puppy dog eyes

That was one thing that kind of bugged me about Dimension Shift - I kept the program (20,000 bytes) in archive all the time, in case of RAM clears and to make room for other stuff and whatnot, and I didn't really like Garbage Collecting every other time I closed the program.

I think I'm pretty much done with this project, I'm just kind of losing interest, and I'm focusing on PaintPad and Base 671, so yeah.

Thanks for the praise!

We haven't actually decided on a way to monetize it yet, as we are still finishing the core platform. But we do want to keep it as free and open as possible, to help encourage developers to use it and build games.

Great! I agree with Hayleia, no questionable ads or pop ups plz. :)

BuilderBoy's physics library. It's pretty awesome looking (though admittedly, I haven't gotten around to actually making anything with it. http://ourl.ca/13090

I use 1.0.3, Runer's bugfixed version. I was really hesitant to upgrade from .5.3b, because it was so wonderfully stable, but when Zedd came out, it only works with 1.0.3 and later, so, that compelled me.

That looks like someone could make some awesome stuff with that editor. Great job, it looks fantastic. If you're having problems with saving/loading, I have a (IMHO) very polished set of functions I wrote for PaintPad that do the job great. Just let me know if you want 'em. :) Pretty much, with these functions, you press a button to save, it comes with a pop-up that says "To Save [or load], press enter." then when you press enter, I wrote a custom input function where you can input up to eight characters and it creates or loads from an appvar with that name.
