Let me play the game first. Then I'll call it a fail, too.

275. Who needs an iPhone when you have a calculator awesome enough to emulate one?
Silver, not all of us have an iPhone. 1983

sc.cemetech.net SourceCoder allows you to write TI-Basic programs on a computer (only online as of now) and export them as 8xp files for sending to calc. It also allows the importing of 8xp programs for editing. With a Cemetech account, you can also store programs and manage them.

Hmm? The homescreen is usable in Axe. (Disp, ClrHome, Output(, etc.)
Also, bumping another feature request: read, write, and create any variable type. (Also deleting any variable, seeing as there is no deleting yet) 1985
General Calculator Help / Re: many many questions« on: June 23, 2010, 02:55:52 pm »
Oops... okay, but the basic point of "you can't use it on the second calc" was still in place. No bother sending something that you wouldn't be allowed to run anyway. I am pretty sure about the trial-period apps, though.

^ I like my wrapping idea (or "conversion", whatever you want to call it), so you don't have to write another linking program. (If you really want to, you probably could, but you still have the driver issue for 64-bit Windows, unless you are genius enough to use TI's drivers )

KnightOS / Re: Feature Requests« on: June 23, 2010, 02:50:28 pm »
Well, either copying it from a USB drive for an 84+(SE), or probably "wrapping" the file so it can be sent to the calc by TI-Connect, with the calc promptly unwrapping it on arrival.
Edit: Those protections are definitely TI-Connect side, which checks the files it sends for "validity" and "proper format" 1988

I'm pretty sure you can't. There is only one way a certain app can be validly signed, so you can't have a temporary signature. Note that the generated apps have a signature, just a very wrong one

General Calculator Help / Re: many many questions« on: June 23, 2010, 02:42:27 pm »
Rather, IIRC, the apps were transferable, but you couldn't run them because they were "registered" to a certain calculator, so to speak. There were also apps with trial periods, believe it or not.

Oh boy, I forgot about them... this is ridiculous. It shouldn't check whether the app is signed when receiving it! I don't need content control on my computer, too.

Axe / Re: Help for grayscale« on: June 23, 2010, 02:27:58 pm »
As of now, you can only create appvars and read appvars and programs. When more variable support is implemented, however, this will become possible.

I voted for interrupts, as they will still be native Axe yet will be very awesome. (Interrupt routines ftw!)
What would also be nice is to be able if the interrupt was caused by the ON key or by something else (the hardware timer, etc.) 1993
KnightOS / Re: Feature Requests« on: June 23, 2010, 02:09:08 pm »
The problem with that is that the kernel (or the most important part of it) is on page 00h, which is stuck in the $0000-$3FFF area. Having another kernel means re-writing the flash for that sector, and that makes it quite similar to Brandon's OS2's dual-booting (I don't know if Sir will do that). If he doesn't do that (make a whole new kernel/dual-boot), he'll have to change a few things with the basic design of the kernel to allow, say, bcall compatibility (not to mention the other routines that have RST versions)
Would it be practical to, say, scan an 8xp file and change it to KnightOS format and compatibility? (I don't know if it will be possible, we may need lots of porters ) 1994

Nice find, though! |
