Yeah, port 10h, with values C0-FF (or, rather, D8-FF, if the values are between 00 and 27 in (contrast))

Wow, that looks nice. Can't wait to see more! Yeah, I never got into this sort of thing myself, but it's nice to see someone other than BrandonW working on it. (No offense to you, BrandonW )

Other Calculators / Re: Self-Modifying Code (SMC)« on: June 12, 2010, 09:22:00 am »
Hey, the results kind of look like a bell curve.
Not surprising, at any rate. Yeah, when I said SMC, I wasn't referring to saving data w/in the program itself. The only thing I don't like about that technique (it is, for the most part, good, like others have said) is that I have to have write-back for archived programs turned on. (I try not to use my archive too much, but the programmers are against me! ) 2149

ztrumpet, that's what I linked to.
happybobjr: I think yunhua98 was asking why they have the word "Snake" (abbr, of course) in the program name if they're Etch-A-Sketch programs 2150
TI Z80 / Re: Project... i'll need help« on: June 11, 2010, 03:01:18 pm »
What do you mean by 'make this a "project" for my account'? If you mean how some members' (like me) sigs have project status in them, you can just edit your sig to reflect your projects. If you want a user-bar, you can use this. If this isn't what you want, please elaborate.
Btw, I'm afraid I won't be able to help, mainly because I don't do a lot w/hardware. Sorry 2151
Other Calculators / Re: Self-Modifying Code (SMC)« on: June 11, 2010, 02:35:58 pm »
Yeah, SMC is mainly for speed gains impossible with normal techniques. It is also useful as a tool to prevent people from understanding your programs.
Also for forcing instructions to have more options than normal (bit, set, and res, for example) 2152
Other Calculators / Self-Modifying Code (SMC)« on: June 11, 2010, 01:58:45 pm »
I was just curious. How often do you use SMC (self-modifying code) in your ASM programs?
Feel free to list why or how you use it too. 2153
The Axe Parser Project / Re: Features Wishlist« on: June 11, 2010, 01:15:25 pm »
yes, exactly. If you want the contrast level from 0 to 9, like when you press 2nd+up/down, a simple division by 4 seems like it would work (I may be wrong, but I think that's right)

I use it to (un)lock programs. And mess around w/my RAM. (The VAT is especially fun )
Also, there are several undocumented commands for the console. I won't bother to list them here, but I'll tell you that if you find where in the app the command list is stored, you'll see all of them. My favorite is GREENLIGHTGO. Try it. And trust me, it doesn't crash your calc. 2157

Nice to hear that it works. Glad to help! Though it might not be useful, what's the smallest value for port 29h that worked?

zTrumpet: The current contrast is stored at $8447 and is in the range from 0 to 39 (decimal)

I third that suggestion, since it's the best compromise. Have fun programming
