The "Prog Write" routine from the debug menu corrupts the file system: http://ourl.ca/9404/220269Some other file system options from the test menu may do as well... Did you use such functionality, Qwerty.55?

The purpose of the flash program is now known: It makes a copy of the OS at 0xA1000000..0xA1B60000 and at the same time corrupts the file system. A flash memory optimization may not fix this. It is therefore recommended to run the debug menu again and press [F1] which will erase the entire user area. After reboot the file system will be restored.
PS: For some reason I could not extract the OS by cloning the Prizm's flash drive. I tried Goplat's dumpdrive and some WinHex functionality.

Cool to have this in the news section. I wonder what Simon is planning for Insight 1.07 - he did not say anything to anyone, so I'm expecting a big "Wow!" when it comes out.

As always: If there's a syscall that gets the job done - he'll use it. That is: No, I don't think he uses any direct addressing.

Simon has been using the Prizm's 3pin port for a while. He is currently looking into the OS update process - however, without an fx-CG 10 at hand the Casio updater does not seem to be quite useful and forcing an "OS Error" message may be unfixable at this stage - at least if you have an fx-CG 20 only.

Weird, I didn't have any issues. Are you sure that before disconnecting it you press ON/AC then wait until it finished loading and tells you to press EXIT? I do that everytime and never got a single problem. No, it crashes WHEN you press the [AC/ON] key. One thing I noticed, however, is that when I drag'n'drop files on my prizm and they already exists there, it won't update them at all. When I go out of USB mode, they're still the same old files as prior trying to overwrite them. I have to delete them from the calc before resending updated versions. I do not have this problem.

That's why MPoupe said somewhere this is for demo purposes only.

How much memory are you using? About 1 MB, but I often replace the same files with newer ones.

Did a small test and yes, can still be built with version 0.90 Are you planning on transitioning at any point to gcc? I'm currently working on porting the Insight source to compile under gcc. The advantage with using gcc is that compilation is simpler and it is more optimized. No, I have no plans for this. Version 1.00 will be the last one.

My SDK uses tools from the fx-9860G SDK. I'm not sure if you can build this with micro-SDK version 0.90, though.

Since I did a flash memory optimization, it no longer happens. So, this may have been caused by a high degree of fragmentation.

Sometimes when I disconnect from USB, my Prizm will automatically reboot and reset all settings. So far, this happened about 10-15 times. I guess, this is some kind of file system bug, because I'm sending a lot of add-in files to my device - sometimes 5 at once and only with minor modifications (just to test some stuff).
Did anybody experience something similar?
My PC has USB 1.1, runs Windows XP SP3 and I'm always disconnecting via [AC/ON].

Why do you dislike the GPL? Personally, I don't see any problem with it. Everything that can be done with proprietary can be done with the GPL as far as I know... Except from hiding. Well, because of its viral character and complexity. At least version 3 is WAY too restrictive. Personally, I prefer BSD style: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/bsdl-gpl/article.html
