News / The TI-Nspire ViewScreen is a true Nspire too!
« on: September 14, 2011, 05:21:45 pm »
Some days ago, TI publised a 3.1 firmware update for the TI-Nspire LabStation cradle.
The TLO file was including a Nspire compatible OS (can be run on Goplat's emulator but won't show anything on the screen) and a Boot2.
More details were published on TI-Planet:
http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8169
So the TI-Nspire LabStation cradle is a true TI-Nspire calculator, but with no screen and no keypad.

And the question was... Do other TI-Nspire peripherals work the same way?

I have discovered that the TI-Nspire ViewScreen panel uses an OS. And I have proof that it also uses a Boot2, a Boot1, and a diagnostics software. And guess what? The Boot2 and the diagnostic software are flashable too!

So the TI-Nspire ViewScreen is a true TI-Nspire calculator, but without the keypad. Opening it should reveal an Nspire-like PCB.

We should now try to find out how to dump it, as no firmware update was ever released publicly by TI.

After the 3.1 OS for the mysterious TI-Nspire CM CAS calculator, Adriweb might have discovered a new proof that this model has been planned / does exist.

Check the exclusive photo of a different TI-Nspire CM Docking Station than the one available on TI-China web site:

Ndless / Re: Links to all Ndless 2.0-compatible OSes
« on: September 12, 2011, 01:46:34 pm »
If I remember well, OSes 1.7.1.xx and 1.7.2.xx don't work with Ndless 2.

You really need OS 1.7.2741.
OS 1.7.2733 works too but is not available on TI website to my knowledge.

News / Re: ASM to arrive on TI-80 ROM 4.0 soon?

By looking at the ROM dumps.

Odd and even code frequencies are very different, which means that instructions are 16-bits wide.

Also, in the self test keyboard test, the displayed hexadecimal key code is 16-bits wide (it begins by 0x00).

It's a proprietary 16-bits processor, which has never been used in anything else than the TI-80 to our knowledge.

So the documentation will have to be built by ourselves by looking at the ROM dumps.

And did you start analysing the decrypted file?

Another secret revealed!

TI has also publised a 3.1 firmware update for the TI-Nspire LabStation cradle.

The file has a TLO extension, and is built exactly like an Nspire OS installation file... Meaning that it also contains a Boot2 and a downgrade protection.

And if the TI-Nspire LabStation craddle had its own ARM CPU and was just a TI-Nspire calculator without screen and keyboard?

Check the TI-Planet news to know more! ;)

I've found the same information as you.

The TI-80 ViewScreen specific Graph Link software was supposed to be included with the calculator.

I've allready emailed TI-Cares about that.

Guess what?...
They never replied :P

Maybe the 1st post should be edited with the informations from my tow last posts?

Or maybe a separate "3.1.0 Chinese specific" news should be created?

Do you want something exclusive that seems to be planned too? ;)

TI has released (maybe by mistake) a 3.1.0 OS for a TI-Nspire CM CAS.
There is no mention of such a model on Google for now.
And Adrien didn't see anything like that when he was at TI-Dallas...

But the file does exist and is different from all other 3.1.0 files. Download it on TI-Planet! ;)

A specific 3.1.0 OS has been released for the TI-Nspire CM.

Check here -> http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8166

It includes a different 3.1.0.16 Boot2.

The OS downgrade protection is very low: minimal OS version is 1.7.2147.
But if older production CM OSes don't exist, this protection would have been useless... for now.

Just like later versions of the ti 81, the ti 80 has an a spot for soldering a jack. Makes you wonder why ti put the circuitry for a link port and didn't bother putting one on the calcs.
Some 80s shipped with a link port for use with teacher software. Which only had the ability to take screenshots.

Yes, the jack is soldered on TI-80 ViewScreen (teachers).
But the OS only supports (natively) screen captures transfers.

According to epsstore.ti.com, a special TI-Graph Link Software is needed.
But I've never been able to find it.

Any info about that?

Mic has never published a news stating that he was giving Casio-Bank to me.
So I won't support Casio-Bank anymore.

Which means that Casio-Bank is dead.
