The boot1 is a program which validates the boot2, decode it and run it. It can also reprogram the boot2, run the diagnostics software, reprogram the diagnostics software...
The boot2 is a program which validates the OS, decode it an run it. It can also run the maintenance menu (remove OS and/or documents) and run a test OS on non-CX models (without permanent installation).
To my knowledge, Boot1 is 1.1.8916 on all non-CX TI-Nspire released. Boot2 can be 1.1.8981, 1.4.1571 or 3.0.1.131.
Boot1 is 3.0.0.99 on all TI-Nspire CX released. Boot2 is 3.0.1.131

The 1.1 OS will never be able to work on a CAS+ (completly incompatible: different CPU).
It doesn't use a virtual filesystem anymore to exchange data with another handheld or a computer. You have direct access to the physical filesystem.
Anyway, we allready know what's inside the CAS+ virtual filesystem (allmost nothing). And I've allready managed to list the CAS+ physical filesystem content in 2 different ways and have posted everything here, somewhere.
It seems totally impossible to hack the CAS+ through the linking protocol as you have no access to the physical filesystem.
But if we manage to dump the 1.0 OS, then we might be able to study it and find some software exploits we've been unable to guess up to now...

You don't need to translate: you can take a TI-83 ROM, which is the same thing as the TI-82Stats.fr ROM but in english.
And the problem is that we have allmost no info on the TI-REF 738X ASIC, and I don't know where we could get more...

The problem is that the CAS+ is using a virtual filesystem to communicate with the computer. That virtual file system does not contain the OS (only your documents). Here's another prototype by the way http://ti.bank.free.fr/index.php?mod=news&ac=commentaires&id=1112I'm dreaming of putting my hands on it! ^^

Sorry Goplat, too late unless I find a way to downgrade...

Oops, sorry Goplat. Seems our problem is much more complicated than I thought

But you don't need to do that with a TouchPad.
It would be usefull to do that: - with a CAS+ (in order to be able to reinstall the OS as the matching .tnc files have never been published) - with a CX (as we do need the Boot1 because the Boot2 is not encoded binary code anymore...)

Unfortunately, I'm missing time because of the TI-Bank problems... Just try it. If you fail, I'll ship you a replacement CAS+ with OS 1.0.554. If you succeed, I'll ship you a CAS+ with the older and rarer 1.0.529 OS.

I don't know... maybe...
The ASIC has exactly the same reference as the basic TI-83+ ASIC (TI-REF738X).
I don't know how TI makes it operate in 83 mode or 83+ mode.

The TI-82Stats is just a basic TI-83 with the latest 1.10001 ROM.
Both TI-82Stats.fr and TI-76.fr are running a basic TI-83 OS translated into french on a TI-83+ hardware. So they have 512Kb Flash.
But only the first 256Kb are connected to the ASIC: you need to solder an additional pin.
And even after that, as the ASIC is operating in basic TI-83 mode, we found no way of accessing the additional 256Kb or reprogram the Flash through software.

Thank you Goplat for taking the time to work on that. I don't know if this has some interest, but on the 1st TI-30X Pro MultiView ROM, it was possible to freeze the calculator by typing some special values in the polynomial solver: The ROM is included in this old emulator version: http://ti.bank.free.fr/index.php?mod=archives&ac=voir&id=1960Could that bug trigger anything interesting?...
