This is reat! I've got 2 questions: * It does not work on basic TI-83. Why? Because of the 32Kb RAM? * According to the readme, it does not suppor TI-Nspire. Does this mean it won't work with the Nspire 84+ keypad? If it doesn't work, I'd like to know why... The RAM & ROM are here... I thought only applications dealing with the USB port had problems....

Question (maybe stupid):
Could that problem with TI-Nspire Text Editor and TNIC files be related to their Ndless fix? (opening the installer file gives the same error message, instead of executing code...)

And we need to compress it back now...

The Nspire 3.0 OS doesn't open unencrypted TNS files anymore: you get the "this document format is not supported" dialog box. Some unofficial softwares (TI-Nspire Text Editor, TNIC web) were generating unencrypted TNS files with text and images. Those files aren't usable anymore on OS 3.0. They probably did it on purpose: to import text or images on your Nspire, you now have no other way than using the official software, if you have a valid licence. Starting from OS 1.2, TNS files were stored encrypted. In OS 1.1, TNS files were stored unencrypted as XML files, exactly like with TI-Nspire Text Editor and TNIC web. I've just tested: TNS files generated by the 1.1 OS aren't usable on the 3.0 OS. So, in order to bother us, TI even took the right to break their own advertised ascending compatibility. To get back at TI, we should really break the TNS encryption as soon as possible.

Due to some kind of a DoS attack on that file (thousands of hits since yesterday), OSlauncher has been temporarily removed from TI-Bank.
We are sorry for any inconvenience, but will keep you informed.
If you don't mind me asking, where does the IP address of the attacker geolocate to?
Various IP all around Europe. What is sad, is that it's probably not coming from TI, but from someone related to the community.

Is it so horrible to have one? It's free, and you have one for everything.
That's not the question. You don't have to register on Omnimaga to read the posts. Why would you have to register on Google to view this document? And I have a Google account. I'm just thinking to people who don't have such an account. Registering might be free but: - maybe they don't want to register (they have the right, and there are good reasons for that... FaceBook is free too you know... free doesn't mean wonderfull..) - registering is laborious (there's a captcha which is hard to read, you need a valid email, ...) A wiki would probably be a much better idea, and would be really "free". Such an important documentation does deserve a wiki. I'm sure the community would be happy to host that.

But it seems only Google registered users can view it Couldn't you find a better place?
Nope, it's set as "Editable for anyone with the link (not even connected)", so should be good for everybody
By clicking your link, I'm being asked for a Google login & password. That's what I was referring to.

Wait, does that means both versions practically has to be the same or close? In that case I don't really see the purpose in terms of programming and playing games, since many people will just want to run Ndless without having to get rid of OS 3.0, for example. Could you explain what would be the use, other than the not-so-legal one? Or is there a magic OS combination?
Yes, OSlauncher can't help with "Ndlessing" OS 3.0. But it can be usefull in many other ways. - running a "similar" original TI OS (not exactly the same, of course )- running a "similar" patched/modified TI OS - running 3rd party OSes

The OS image can be zipped (to save space), but has to be unencrypted.
So for TI OSes, you'll have to decrypt them on the computer first. (it's possible...)
Remember an important part of the OS is stored in the file system at installation time. If you try to run an OS "too different" than the one installed (for exemple 1.6 OS runned from an 1.7 installation), system strings and icons will be all messed up if it does start.

You can run any hardware-compatible OS. They're not checked before being run, so you don't have to bother with the RSA 1024-bits key So, you can run third party OSes or modified TI OSes for example. ^^

Well, I knew OSLauncher was being worked on, so I didn't even watch the video (I did note the day you placed the news article, though, that did confuse me) As long as it's not too easy to place CAS on a regular nspire it sounds awesome.
It's not April 1st anymore, so go get it... while you can! http://ti.bank.free.fr/index.php?mod=archives&ac=voir&id=3223
