For back to school 2010, Texas Instuments did release the TI-Nspire TouchPad with its optional rechargeable battery, the 3.7L1230SP. You got 3.7 Volts for a capacity of 1230 mAh. Thus, a simple multiplication gave you an energy of 4.55 Wh. For back to school 2011 came the TI-Nspire CX. But the included rechargeable battery, the 3.7L1060SP, was 14% less powerful with a capacity of 1060 mAh and therefore an energy of 3.92 Wh. For back to school 2012 in China, they were even less lucky. The released TI-Nspire CM was including a much less powerful rechargeable battery, the 3.7L0800SP with a capacity collapsing to 800 mAh and therefore an energy of only 2.96 Wh. In a previous news, we noted that the new back to school 2013 TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition was including a new rechargeable battery, the 3.7L1200SP, therefore providing 1200 mAh and 4.44 Wh. In a another previous news, we also warned you against the new back to school 2013 TI-Nspire CX whose hardware revisions I/J/K have been rendered incompatible with the 3.1 versions required by the Ndless 3.1 and Nlaunch jailbreaks. But finally, there is at least one good news with this new TI-Nspire CX hardware: it's coming with the new 3.7L1200SP rechargeable battery! We're not completely back to the power of the back to school 2010 3.7L1230SP yet, but it's still 13 % more powerful than the old 3.7L1060SP. So you're getting a better rechargeable battery for the same price! So the choice is now simple when you buy a new TI-Nspire CX: - hardware revisions A-H for Ndless 3.1 and Nlaunch
- hardware revision I and above for the new improved rechargeable battery
Which one would you choose? ;) Source:http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13092&lang=en

Yes, I could confirm that Unsigned.8xp still works. Probably USORECV.8xp still works too. So we can sill install unsigned or missigned OSes.
But we still need to understand what TI did (again) and when.
So Boot Code 1.03 was introduced in TI-84+ hardware revision Q. Anybody who bought a TI-84+ those last weeks/months? Which hardware revision did it come with?

Anybody with a TI-84+ or TI-84+SE hardware revision R or above? It seems that the new TI-83 Plus.fr USB in France (which use the TI-84+SE hardware) have their Boot Code write protected: EpicFail and Flashy don't work anymore. (source: http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=13116 )I suppose it's the same for the new TI-84+ in shops. We need to determine at which hardware revision they did change this. My TI-83 Plus.fr USB won't help, as the hardware revision code on the back was reset.

Just try to send the .tco again - as explained in the Nlaunch CX readme, there is some randomness. Unplugging the USB just after sending the file might help.
If it definately doesn't want to work, then you probably missed one of the steps.

For the moment, the Orion module does identify itself as a ViewScreen panel. So communication is only one way: calculator to module.
Supposing the hardware is capable of that, we would probably need a custom firmware.

The Orion voice module hardware - is it worth the price? http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=148687&lang=enContent not available in english yet, but you might be interested into having a look at the photos already. Motherboard connectivity: Motherboard chips: Yes... Two ARM processors... Far more powerful than the calculator itself!

In many previous news, we did present you the new Orion TI-84 Plus talking graphing calculator. Some of you asked us about the possibilities to connect the voice module other models. Curiosity is not a bad thing on Omnimaga, so let's answer this. With the special 2.55/ORk OS installed, you could expect the module to work on the TI-84 Pocket.fr and chinese TI-84 Plus Pocket SE. Unfortunately, the mini-jack and mini-USB aren't far enough from each other and the module doesn't fit. However, it should still be possible to use the voice module if we can find the appropriate extensions: - mini-Jack 2.5 female 2.5 <-> mini-Jack 2.5 male cable
- mini-USB A female <-> mini-USB A male cable
So let's just focus on models with cases similar to the TI-84 Plus cases. The latest TI-73 Explorer for example have the right case, but you can't connect the module because of the missing mini-USB port. Let's now check the new TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition color calculator. It should be ok, shouldn't it? But it just doesn't fit... We notice that the connectors from the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition (left calculator) aren't at the same height that the ones from the TI-84 Plus which are closer to the screen. Indeed, we can notice the difference by placing a small item (a jumper for example) on the motherboards. So we need extensions here too, but even with that we would still need an appropriate OS (if possible) to interact with the module. I don't have a TI-89 Titanium, but a TI-89 Titanium ViewScreen on which the module doesn't fit because of the ViewScreen connector. But it should fit on a TI-89 Titanium. Of course, an appropriate OS would be needed here too. We're finally lucky with the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition and TI-83 Plus.fr USB, on which the module does fit and work once the 2.55/ORk OS is installed. We just invented a new model: the Orion TI-84 Plus Silver Edition! :bj: The module also fits on TI-84 Plus Silver Edition ViewScreen, where the different ViewScreen connector isn't a problem but can't be used anymore once the module is connected. Let's now sum up the whole thing: Model | compatible case | compatible OS | TI-73 Explorer | no | no | TI-83 Plus.fr USB | yes | yes | TI-84 Plus | yes | yes | TI-84 Plus Silver Edition | yes | yes | TI-84 Plus Silver Edition ViewScreen | yes | yes | TI-Nspire 84 Plus keypad | no | no | TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition | no | no | TI-84 Pocket.fr | no | yes | TI-84 Plus Pocket SE | no | yes | TI-89 Titanium | yes | no | TI-89 Titanium ViewScreen | no | no | Source:http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13041&lang=en

some features feel incomplete
Examples please?
For exemple, I've found a limitation with the sequence application. By default it starts sequences with rank 1, but it doesn't let you set the sarting rank to 0. This is a big problem for France, as the sequences are a very important topic in high school, and we define them as starting at rank 0 - and so start many sequences in problems. Other calculator manufacturers (TI & Casio) set the default starting rank to 1, but let the user enter 0. And now what seems to be a bug of the sequence application - I don't know if it's called like that in english, but it seems you can't define cross-sequences: U1 sequence is disabled and unusable. I suppose the app checks and sets the sequences sequentially - so U1 is checked first but rejected as it depends upon U2 which is not defined at that time. The same problems seem to be present with the HP-39gII sequence app. (I don't have the calculator - I could only test with the emulator)I've reported both problems to HP-France, but I don't know if they did translate and forward them.

Which boot+firmware versions did it come with? Just launch the diagnostics software to find out: hold F C O keys while pressing and releasing the reset button on the back.

Now, the ones with a better musical background than mine, should be able to help us at making some conversion/reference table. You've got all playable sounds in trace mode with the 63 vertical positions of the cursor (Y=0, 1, 2, ..., 61, 62)Thanks to you, we might be able to achieve huge things in the future.

In a previous news, Adriweb did invent an easy way to play music on TI-84 Plus, using the Orion voice module. Indeed, system 2.55/ORk plays a sound based on the vertical position whenever the cursor on the graph screen is moved. A first approach was therefore to use the function 'Trace' mode to obtain a sequence of sounds. In this mode, the cursor follows the plot of the function and shows you the coordinates of a point for each column of the screen. As Adriweb noted, in this context we were limited by the hardware: the width of the screen (96x64 pixels). We couldn't play without interruption a music of more than 96 notes in theory (95 in practice, the first note tending to be skipped upon 'Trace' mode activation). Beyond 95 notes, you need a several seconds pause to switch the plot or chande the window before going on. I am pleased to announce today that I have literally exploded this hardware limitation! Instead of the function 'Trace' mode, let's use the statistics 'Trace' mode which works completely differently. Instead of giving the coordinates of points for each column of the screen, it gives them to each value of the X-axis list. With more than 95 elements, points are going to appear in the same screen column. But this time they can all be selected and therefore they are all playable! We are now limited by the software, as the maximum number of items for lists on TI-83+/84 is 999 - but it's enough to play musics more than 10 times longer than last time and to organize concerts! Here is for exemple a 125 notes music, proving that the 95 notes limit was crossed successfuly! Tinkerers philosophy: The real question is not "what does it do" but "what can I make it do!" OS 3.1 was released in september 2011, and Ndless 3.1 came out 4 months later in january 2012.
But at that time TI was much less serious about security and there were much more active people in the development team... It may take longer this time...
And the next OS 3.6 which should be released in the next weeks may bring even stronger protections... It may take much longer this time...
