nDoom / Re: nDOOM - Work in progress

While you're at it, try deleting all the sound and music data too, it will make the file much smaller. :)

Note, the original purpose of this project was, if i remember well, to load any Doom WAD file.
Which means Doom/Doom2 original levels, but also all custom levels available on the Internet.

We should be very carefull if we start supporting modified WAD files...
Because not everybody will be able (or want) to modify WAD files...

And by testing the program more and more with "light" WAD files, some bugs might progressively appear and prevent to load normal WAD files correctly.

TI-Bank c'est plutôt:
  • 30%: aide pour les personnes ne cherchant pas dans les anciens topics
  • 10%: aide pour les personnes ne trouvant pas dans les anciens topics
  • 30%: salon blabla
  • 15%: programmation TI-Basic
  • NEW! 15%: programmation en axe! ;D

Et moi, je compte pour 0% alors ? :P

A moins que je ne blablate ? . . .

News / Re: "Noverclock" your TI-Nspire!
« on: January 16, 2011, 07:47:14 am »
BTW, the AHB frequency can even go up to 150 MHz, but critor noticed that there wasn't much of a speed difference with 75 MHz.

In fact, no speed difference at all with a test of more than 30 secs.

Either AHB=150MHz is totally useless...
Either when you specify AHB=150MHz, the hardware sets AHB=75MHz.

But feel free to make further tests.

I was looking at the pictures in the tibank article, but I noticed "$145" is this how much the cradle will cost? If it is, it's majorly overpriced.

It's much more overpriced than you think...

$145 -> cradle without any sensors (cradle totally useless)
$234 -> cradle + 3 sensors
$835 -> cradle + 9 sensors
$1591 -> cradle + 15 sensors

Each sensor is allmost as expensive as the cradle itself...

Brandon will probably be glad to know! :P

Why didn't they tell him directly before?...

I guess that it will be the same as on 84+SEs. :P

1.5Mb, then ? :P
With the CAS or with the basic OS?

I would have been nicer to TI:
- let's say 10Mb on the basic TI-Nspire
- and 11.7Mb on the CAS TI-Nspire

Remember there is at least a 1.6Mb size difference between both OSes because of the TI-84+SE ROM.

From what I've read on Vernier website, the DataQuest app is going to be included in the 3.0 OS.

So it doesn't look like something that can be added/removed/hacked, like apps were on previous models.

But there may be some kind of an SDK. I doubt TI made Vernier deal with the TI-Nspire OS itself. Vernier probably developped the DataQuest app separately.

And it doesn't mean the OS is not able to load external apps. Else, did Vernier had to recompile the full OS for each test of a new DataQuest version?... I don't think so.

Let's guess how much free space is going to be available with the 3.0 OS! :P

Even if there was support for Apps, don't expect the SDK to be public.
Only TI & Vernier have it...

I've got better quality images in the TI-Bank (french) news if you want to see how the software & hardware will look like.

I'm currently writing a news for TI-Bank.
The 1st place to look for information is not the TI website but the vernier website.
(TI & Vernier have a long story of data collection, and have often developped the hardware together)

Quote
TI-Nspire Lab Station - More Evidence for OS 2.2

The topic title should be corrected.
According to the specifications on the Vernier page, the TI-Nspire™ Lab Cradle will be available in april 2011, and will require OS 3.0 or later.

So it would be logical for OS 3.0 to be released before april 2011. There is no time for a 2.2 OS.
http://www.vernier.com/calc/ti-nspire/cradle.html

Jumping from 2.1 to 3.0 is even more frightening:
* it might reflect major changes in the OS, like the fixes for all bugs used by Ndless/Nleash.
* it might imply a drastic size increase for the OS, which would be dramatic for basic TI-Nspire (free space is allready less than 50% after installing OS 2.1 -> you often need to delete all your documents or use the maintenance menu to remove the OS before being able to install a new OS...)

My hint: do not install OS 3.0. Just test it on goplat's emulator (if it works...) or just wait for my tests. I'll sacrifice one of my 7 TI-Nspire calculators just for you.

Vernier DataQuest™ App...

Did I just read "App"?

Will OS 3.0 finally support applications, or did TI just use the bad word as usual?...

What do you think?

In fact, it's very unstable on a basic TI-83+, as the 2.55MP OS is using 48Kb RAM (and the basic TI-83+ only has 32Kb RAM).

But it works on a TI-83+SE (128Kb RAM).

So you can upgrade your TI-83+SE to a TI-84+SE with the patch (without the clock and the USB obviously).
Nice!
So you can install this on a 83+? That's nice.

Install on a 83+, yes.
Make it work properly, no...

It only works on 83+SE.

83+SE is not the same as 83+.

Credits for the patch go to BrandonW.

He made the 1st patch to install the 2.53MP OS on a TI-83+SE.

I just made exactly the same modifications in the 2.55MP OS, having just to recalculate the checksums.

By the way, seems we're going to have a 2.56MP 84+ ROM in the next basic TI-Nspire OS (supposed to be 2.2 in february).

what happens if you press mode and try to look at the clock? does it crash, or just output garbage?

The clock is frozen with a 1986 date.
Secs aren't increased.

Setting the clock doesn't change anything: you're back in 1986 immediatly.
