Indeed, so far, no closed-minded troll has manifested himself against Nleash.

Maybe they are so angry, that they cannot find the words...

(Actually I do know a bit about the calc, as I read about the calc several months ago, but I do not know the very exact differences between the 82 STATS and the 76.fr.)

It's easy to mess up things related to those calculators... Let's sum up:

The TI-82Stats has the latest TI-83 hardware, with the latest TI-83 OS (1.10001).
The TI-82Stats.fr has the latest TI-83+ hardware, with a 1.11fr7 TI-83 OS.
The TI-76.fr has the latest TI-83+ hardware, with a 1.00fr5 TI-83 OS.

So the TI-82Stats and TI-82Stats.fr are very different! They're not the same calculator at all.

The TI-76.fr and TI-82Stats.fr are hardware-identical. Just the OS is different. Theorically, they can be flashed with a TI-73/83+ OS.

As for its rarity, it doesn't help that most France Ebay sellers charges 30 euros on Ebay to ship their calculators internationally and that 90% of Ebay'ers won't ship outside their country. This limits my choice even more x.x

For information, they'll pay 22.5€ at the post office to send you a calculator (less than 1kg, priority/by air plane). I allways show those informations clearly when I'm selling things on Ebay.

Ok because I just said I wished I could get one, then you questionned why and it sounded like my choice was an heinous crime or something.

Just think about it for a minute: am I often telling you that your choices are heinous crimes ?

I was just pointing what the TI-76.fr was, in case you didn't know (because that model is quite rare).

Just for collection purpose. Heck, I even got a FX-7000G from 1985 :P I don't see why it's such a big problem to you if I try to get a 76... Canada is a free country, after all, so I am within my rights and you cannot stop me...

Why would I want to stop you ? :p
Have you gotten my email about the 76.fr by the way ?

I wish I could get my hand on a TI-76.fr

Why?
The TI-76.fr is just the latest TI-73/83+ hardware, with a 256K TI-83 OS in the 512K Flash-chip.

The only interesting thing to do with a TI-76.fr would be to flash a 83+ OS.
But we will need to write a 83+ boot code first using assembly, at the end of the 512K flash chip.
Then, we could flash a 83+ OS using USB...

Is there any harm in sending the OS from this "source" without the boot2 code.  I sent 1.1 and it worked fine.  Is this normal, or do I have to add the boot2.  Also, if TI ever released a OS that was not downgradeable, would it be possible to put an old boot2 code in the file and send it so it is possible to downgrade?  Thanks! :)

You can send all OSes without the boot2, by removing it from the tnc/tno archive if necessary. The OS will work, because you allready have a boot2 in your TI-Nspire! Without the boot2, the USB plug wouldn't work anyway, and you wouldn't be able  to send anything...

But no, it is not possible to downgrade the boot2 from 1.4 to 1.1, by just putting the old boot2.file with a matching boot2.cer file in a tnc/tno archive.

I've allready tried, and managed to get a correct tnc/tno file, but the boot2 was not updated. Looking at the debug log, I've figured out what happens:

The newly installed OS first boots with the calculator boot2. After booting, the OS checks the boot2 version, and updates it if there is a newer version in the tnc/tno archive.

So if you've got a TI-Nspire with boot2 1.1 and send a tnc/tno with boot2 1.4, the boot2 will be updated after the 1st boot of the OS.
If you've got a TI-Nspire with boot2 1.4 and send a tnc/tno with boot2 1.1, the boot2 won't be updated, because it is not a newer version.

We could surely write the old boot2 1.1 using Ndless and a specific program which could be named "boot2writer".
But, this is dangerous: If the programs fails for any reason and leaves you with an invalid boot2, your TI-Nspire won't boot any more... And you won't be able to install a new OS/boot2, because the USB plug won't work any more...

By the way, I've found a boot2 related bug with OS 2.1.
On a TI-Nspire basic with the old boot2 1.1 and OS 2.1, the calculator just freezes when the "loading OS" progress bar reache 100%. Notice in that case, your boot2 won't be updated beacause the OS hasn't started yet. So a reboot will fail too!
There is no problem with boot2 1.4. Strangely, there is no problem either on a TI-Nspire CAS with boot2 1.1.

i tried this with the touchpad non-CAS with 2.0, and it keeps going through the start up over and over again. how can i put it back?

Did you go through the installation of a 1.X OS ?

If yes, did you replace your TouchPad keypad ?
As mentionned in the TI-Bank news ( http://ti.bank.free.fr/844 ) you need a ClickPad keypad.
The TI-Nspire TouchPad basic keeps rebooting if you use a 1.X OS with a TouchPad keypad.

Apparently, now it is possible to control the LED for PTT on the non-cas Nspire units.

We don't know exactly "how" for the moment, but the PTT/LED status seems to be stored in the same memory  page than the downgrade protection and the diagnostic mode-flag.
It even worked on basic & CAS TouchPads! ;)

No surprise we managed to activate the LED while testing the beta versions of Nleash.

Even on the Touchpad, it is now possible to install OS 1.1 (although we do not know yet if there may be compatibility issues with the keyboard or the power management bug).[/color][/b]

You need a ClickPad keypad to use your black TI-Nspire with OS 1.X.

On the TI-Nspire TouchPad CAS, two additional tricks are needed, because you can't easily plug the ClickPad keypad, and the OS won't boot successfully with a ClickPad keypad.
If you keep the TouchPad keypad, the arrow keys won't work, and the rest of the keys will be all messed up...

Everything is explained in the TI-Bank news -> http://ti.bank.free.fr/index.php?mod=news&ac=commentaires&id=844

You may allready know, but an online Flash emulator allready exists for old z80 calculators: TI-76.fr/81/82/82Stats/82Stats.fr/83/85.

Look at this animation (1fps) about the SD card:

Seems the Nspire SD card was not designed for the end-user...

Anyway... up to now, we've been avoiding putting CAS stuff into non-CAS calculators (runos developped but not released, 68k emulator developped but not released...).

So we've been very nice with TI.

Seeing what we are getting from TI despite that (lawyers letters, evil downgrade protections, censored facebook comments, disabled facebook accounts...) I would say "let's not care anymore!".

Anyway, they'll keep striking at us, whatever we do.
