Very nice critor!
Out of curiosity, what happens when you put the 84+ keypad in?
With a TI-Nspire CAS TouchPad and OS 2.X.X: * basic TouchPad keypad -> after booting, dialog box saying "unrecognised keypad -> install a TI certified keypad or update OS" * ClickPad keypad -> loop of reboots * 84+ keypad -> booting ok, but of course wrong keymap

As allready said, the 2.00 diagnostic softwares are installed on TouchPad calculators. But, they don't even support the TouchPad keypad... In order to have access to all options, you need to install a ClickPad keypad. It is very easy on a basic TI-Nspire TouchPad... ...but quite complicated on a TI-Nspire CAS TouchPad. I've managed to make it work, though. Let's watch:

"Not a whole lot to say other than download it when you can. The TE software has changed a TON!! Looks like amazing file management possibilities. More stuff to figure out during the summer! Also looking forward to the new ways to sort bar graphs! I was putting together TI-nspire notes for my AP Statistics class at the end of the school year, and there was an example I was putting in that I wanted the ability to sort alphabetically to show a point....and I couldn't at the time. PERFECT TIMING TI!! What are your thoughts and impressions on the new update?"
"Slider improvements, YAY!"
Seriously, this crap makes me gag
Moreover, all documents created by the 2.1 TE can't be opened on calculators with previous OSes. Downloading the 2.1 TE & sharing documents, is like forcing all user of the documents to upgrade to 2.1 OS. That's exactly what TI wants...

Didn't Mic Nspire also went kaputt when it had OS 2.0 on it?
Yes, but that was not related to the diagnostic mode.

There's a boot0? Or is boot0 the diag menu?
no boot0 to my knowledge

But lets not forget that much of this needs to be done by asm, for which we need ndless2, so that should be the main priority
Maybe not. If critor was able to dump the diags software without any version of Ndless on a touchpad Nspire, who knows what is possible...
I got a frightening bug with the 2.00 diagnostic software on the TouchPad. It has filled some part of the memory with lots of 0xFF bytes... :p It seems TI has done a very crappy job with the 1st release of the diagnostic software for the TouchPad (2.00). It isn't even handling the TouchPad keypad correcly... If you don't have a ClickPad by hand, navigating though the diagnostic menus is difficult. It is even telling me my battery is faulty.... It seems to check the voltage with a 4Volts value, when the nominal voltage of the battery is 3.7Volts. No surprise the software did bug...

Sorry to be so pessimistic, but you can still downgrade to 1.7 (2.48) which doesn't have mathprint.
You can downgrade your TI-Nspire ClickPad to 1.7. You cannot downgrade your TI-Nspire TouchPad to 1.7, which means you're stuck with 2.54MP. In fact, OS 2.1 and TouchPads are using the same protection. There is a minimal OS version in memory, just after boot2 (so out of the maintenance menu formatting zone). OSes update this value with a higher version, but never with a lower version. From what I know and what I have tested: * installing OS 2.1 can update to a 1.7.xxxx minimal version * while booting OS 2.1, boot2 can update to a 1.7.xxxx minimal version * after OSes 2.0.0/2.0.1/2.1.0 have been launched, they can update to 2.0.0 if a TouchPad calculator (or keypad?...) is detected Perhaps other updates of the minimal OS version are triggered too... It looks complicated to bypass that, yes... (at least 3 checkings/updates of the minimal version: installation time + boot2 time + just after boot) But be happy as there is one very good news. If you can break OS 2.1 protection, then you can downgrade TouchPads too. Just be sure to have a ClickPad keypad by hand, as the TouchPad keypad is not working properly with OSes 1.x, due to a different keymap.

If the diagnostic software is independent of the OS, does that mean it isn't digitally signed? Thus, we can replace it with whatever we want?
If it is not signed, it would be very interesting building our own tool, some kind of hexadecimal viewer witch could modify anything in memory. That way, if the boot1 behavior is not modified in future Nspire, we could easily patch many future downgrade protections using the Esc+Menu+G combo while powering on Edit: ok Extended... I stop dreaming... :'( So let's check what we have in current dumps.

I didn't mean TI's emulator, I meant Goplat's.
Well, before including the 2.00 diagnostic in Goplat's emulator, we need to dump it from a real calc, don't we ? Or maybe I totally missed the point... The diagnostic software is independant from the OS.

2.00.1183 from my Nspire CAS TouchPad P-0210B is marked as dumped :p But I'm not going to explain "how" now. And before you ask, I don't have Ndless2, not even a beta or alpha version. Could it be from the emulator?
No. The "OS" (if we can call it so) and even the CPU emulation from the official TI emulators are encrypted in lib/phoenix.dll. To my knowledge, nobody has ever managed to hack anything related to the OS with those emulators. The commands are sent to phoenix.dll, and it directly and natively interacts with the display and the documents. Moreover, the OS used by those emulators is different from the handheld OS (some menu are disabled). It wouldn't suprise me if there were no boot1/boot2/diags in that phoenix.dll file.

I don't think the diagnostic is part of nucleus. But I may be wrong...

EDIT: Btw are all those options in the diagnostic menu safe?
I've tested all options from the 1.1.9266, 2.00.DEVBUILD, and 2.00.1183 softwares. At the beginning, I was a little frightened by some options like "Memory" or "UpdatedNAND512B" But in the end, they're all safe. I didn't break the TI-Nspire. I don't know about the other versions... I would have to flash them first. But when you look at the dump, there are many messages that I haven't seen in the options... The "Update" word is quite frequent... There seems to be many interesting things in that software. May be they're just disabled for some reason. ################################critor, is it even possible to dump the recent (2010) Diags software. I would think that they only made the new touchpads in 2010 that do not support Ndless.
According to the above list, it seems so. 2.00.1183 from my Nspire CAS TouchPad P-0210B is marked as dumped :p But I'm not going to explain "how" now. And before you ask, I don't have Ndless2, not even a beta or alpha version.

Does anybody have the TouchPad to test the diagnostic mode ? It seems we're only missing dumps of very recent (2010) or very old (2007) Diags softwares...

DJ Omnimaga & Apcalc, thank you for your informations.
You don't have to dump the Diags software. According to the list above, 1.3.2406 is allready dumped for both CAS and non-CAS.
