TI-Nspire / Re: nLaunch: Now for CX!

nLaunch CX is real.

Here is my first news about launching a CX CAS OS on a non-CAS TI-Nspire CX:

If I've not posted yet, it's because I'm testing. ;)

News / Re: TI-83 Plus moves to TI-84 Plus hardware worldwide !
« on: March 31, 2013, 06:16:11 pm »
It uses the original TI-84 Plus OSes. But as it comes with Boot Code 1.03, you can only use 2.55MP for now.
And yes, it does display 'TI-84' on the about screen.

But as TI-83 Plus are very popular, such a 'recasing' makes sense - TI just couldn't abandon the well-known "TI-83 Plus" name.

It's not the first time such a thing happends you know...

The last TI-81 with TOM V2.0x moved to a TI-82 hardware while still being called TI-81
The last TI-82 with ROM 19.006 moved to a TI-83 hardware while still being called TI-82.
The last TI-83 were renamed to TI-82 STATS and moved to a TI-83+ hardware.

News / TI-83 Plus moves to TI-84 Plus hardware worldwide !
« on: March 31, 2013, 05:58:22 pm »
UPDATE (April 2nd): The worldwide 15 MHz 83+ was an April Fools joke (as did the Justin Bieber tribute and site name change). :P

In a previous news, we were testing the new TI-83 Plus.fr for back to school 2013 in France.

This new version will use the TI-84 Plus hardware and the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition case, bringing many improvements over the old TI-83 Plus.fr:

    • 1.5 times more RAM: 48KB instead of 32KB ;D
    • 2.5 times faster: 15MHz instead of 6MHz ;D
    • 3 times more archive memory: 480KB instead of 160K ;D
    • direct connection with a standard USB A <-> mini USB B cable on any computer ;D
    • interchangeable kayplates ;D[/color]

We now learn that this won't be limited to France. From back to school 2013, the TI-83 Plus distributed worldwide will move to the new TI-84 Plus hardware, and form a coherent TI-z80 line with the design of the new TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition! ;D

I also received a DVT prototype of this new TI-83 Plus, just for you! ;)

    See you soon!

News / Ndless CM - Ndless ported to the TI-Nspire CM !
    « on: March 26, 2013, 05:28:12 pm »
The latest beta version (r685) of Ndless 3.1 was published last August, nearly 8 months ago. :'(

Until now, Ndless 3.1 handled the following Nspire models:
    • TI-Nspire & TI-Nspire CAS
    • TI-Nspire TouchPad & TI-Nspire CAS TouchPad
    • TI-Nspire CX & TI-Nspire CX CAS
    • TI-Nspire CX-C & TI-Nspire CX-C CAS
In other words, until now, the users of two Nspire models were unable to use Ndless: the chinese TI-Nspire CM:  :(
    • TI-Nspire CM-C
    • TI-Nspire CM-C CAS
Tonight, we're glad to release Ndless for the Nspire CM-C!

After the Nspire CAS+, Ndless has therefore been ported to all Nspire models! :)

In fact, this CM-C support was made months ago, and it was supposed to be integrated to Ndless. It didn't get done yet.

We think that the fact that Nspire CM-C users, who will soon be taking exams, have access to reduced functionality (even more so than by the mere fact of using an inferior model, that is), is no good, so we're releasing Ndless CM 3.1 as a fork of Ndless 3.1. We hope that the integration to the main Ndless can be done some day in one of the next updates if there are any.

Obviously, Ndless CM 3.1 requires using OS 3.1, as the vulnerabilities exploited to install Ndless have been simultaneously fixed in the OS 3.2 versions.

Ndless programs which are not defining their own syscalls in the source code should work directly without the need to be rebuilt.
The others will have to be adapted and rebuilt.

Note that the TI-Nspire CM-C CAS is not supported yet.

Yes, there are special shaped screws.

But using a thin flat screw driver did work for me.

    382
Yes, performing the complete format and reinstalling an OS should solve your problem.

Once you've removed the screws, opening the calculator is quite easy by just applying pressure inside the battery compartment.
2 screws are usually hidden under both top pads.

    383
When your calculator boots, do you have a small blank sign/symbol in the top left-hand corner of the screen?

If yes, your calculator is operating in development mode and will only accept development OSes unless this can be changed.
If no, you're supposed to be able to load it with any compatible production OS.

In order to solve the "4+4 layer" mystery, you'll need to open the calculator and show us some pictures of the motherboard.
We can then compare those with our own pictures.

    384
It looks like a sample (not a prototype), yes, but informations so far match the production hardware and not the development hardware.

By the way, could you share a photo of the back of the calculator with us please?

    385
The informations you gave so far don't match known prototypes but production models.

Maybe your filesystem is just corrupt for some reason?
Try to reformat everything using the maintenance menu and to load a new OS.
    on the back of cal, there's a paper tag with test info. {NSC 4+4 layer,  ESD, test sample No.}

I've tried to enter the maintenance menu and select delete all documents, after reboot, the files within remain there...

Of course, if your filesystem is corrupt (which seems to be the case), the maintenance menu won't be able to delete files either.

You shall use the reformat option.

On a side note, you've now got a fork of imgmanip with source & Windows binaries, nsbar:
    http://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=11755

It will let you decompress or compress your Boot2 & Diags images.
Boot2 & Diags images share the same format - the only difference being that Boot2 images are usually compressed, while Diags images aren't.

Depending upon the patching tool we choose for releasing modified Boot2/Diags images, it might be useful.

    388
But unlike me, did you get the sealed commercial pack like Brandon or not?

If he did, I did miss that - and the downvoters too apparently.

Who spammed downvotes on this without even commenting? O.O

Do you remember that last time, some people comments did end up in the topic being locked, and those people warned about harassment?
So if those people don't want to get banned, they just downvote instead of politely saying what they're thinking as it's forbidden.

    So nothing surprising, really.

And before some assumptions are made, that has nothing to do with me: admins can check - I did neither upvote nor downvote the post.
