News / Re: Transform your CX into a CX-C and install the dictionnary!

The dictionnary TCC/TCO takes 3MB.

But we still haven't determined where it does install itself.

There is no evidence of its presence in the whole filesystem (tested with RootDoc) or in the /phoenix/TI-Nspire.tnc file (tested with nTNOC).

Do you have to reinstall anything related to Ndless after you make the CX into a CX-C?
Such as emulators, nClock, anything?

No, you don't.
cx2cxc just modifies some flag in RAM, which makes the OS behave differently.

You don't even have to reboot to install the dictionnary.

The TI-Nspire OS does support optional add-ins.
Together with its TI-Nspire softwares 3.1, TI had included english-chinese dictionnary add-ins for the TI-Nspire OS.

The add-in files look similar with OS files:

Unfortunately, it was impossible to install the dictionnary on our TI-Nspire CX.

You needed to own the chinese model: the TI-Nspire CX-C.

And knowing that CX and CX-C models were sharing the same OS, there was some verification somewhere...

Fortunately, Levak has developped some code this evening which has been included in a new tool, cx2cxc, and hot-patches your TI-Nspire CX OS, making it believe that your handheld is a TI-Nspire CX-C! ;D

No restriction! Unlike a real TI-Nspire CX-C, you can still choose between 15 languages instead of 4. ;D

But like a real TI-Nspire CX-C, the dictionnary shortcut is now active and available in the home screen, and you can install the english-chinese dictionnary! ;D

Congratulations calc84maniac for the ticalc.org release.
http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/449/44971.html

In the readme, you mention "set LCD speed to 60Hz to improve overall timing".

What's was the default speed and how did you change it?

News / Re: New nDoom 2.2 now fully supports TI-Nspire CX

Updated to nDoom 3.0 alpha 2:
http://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=6631

I improved Heretic support, and I hope I didn't break anything.
Non-Heretic games behaviour should be unchanged - feel free to test and help me. :)

You can now:
- open most levels in heretic.wad from all 6 episodes
- show the map
- pick up items (still invisble for now)

You can now try the new nDoom 3.0 alpha 1:
http://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=6631

New: 'alpha' support for Heretic WAD files and compatible.

Note: the Heretic game from Raven Software has been built on a similar but heavily customized Doom engine.
Which means I have to adapt allmost everything to be able to open Heretic maps and keep Doom/Doom2 maps compatibility.

News / Re: Game Boy Advance emulation reaches TI-Nspire CX
« on: August 05, 2012, 06:08:15 pm »
Some CX don't run fine above 220 MHz.
But some run fine at 252 MHz too ;)

Setting the CPU too high may just get you a freeze or a reboot.

News / Launch of the TI-Nspire CM-C CAS
« on: August 05, 2012, 10:37:24 am »
In septembre 2011, we discovered a secret unreleased TI-Nspire model thanks to its OS which was updated together with the TI-Nspire CM-C one: the TI-Nspire CM-C CAS.

In novembre 2011, we even extracted its 2D skin hidden in the TI-Nspire software/OS, giving you an idea of how it would look like:

Today, TI-China has finally created the TI-Nspire CM-C CAS product page, together with the first 3D images! ;D

The TI-Nspire CM-C CAS is allmost identical with the TI-Nspire CM-C, except that you get the additional CAS engine.

There are some differences with the TI-Nspire CX:
  • chinese localised keypad
  • OS stuck in 4 languages: both english languages 'en' and 'en_GB', and both chinese languages 'zh_CN' and 'zh_TW'
  • only 32MB SDRAM like the old TI-Nspire ClickPad/TouchPad instead of 64MB
  • no dock or wifi connector, so no wireless TI-Nspire Navigator network connectivity - sensors can still be used but only with the mini-USB plug
  • use of an inferior battery: 800mAh instead of 1060mAh on TI-Nspire CX or 1230mAh on the optional battery for TI-Nspire TouchPad

Unlike the TI-Nspire CX-C, you can't install the english-chinese dictionaries.

As I think I was the first one to experience filesystem corruption 7 months ago, you need several passes in the maintenance menu to fully recover from it.
- remove OS
- complete reformat
- remove OS
- complete reformat...

The diagnostic software might help too, but I didn't use it.

As you see below (click to enlarge), the maximum overclock achievable with Nover really depends upon your own TI-Nspire CX.

They're all hardware revision C manufactured in 2011.

From the left to the right, the maximum is:
- CPU 222 MHz (AHB 55 MHz)
- CPU 234 MHz (AHB 58 MHz)
- CPU 240 MHz (AHB 60 MHz)
- CPU 252 MHz (AHB 63 MHz) :hyper:

If I do increase the CPU one step further, I get either a freeze or a reboot.

Note that I'm staying in safe AHB frequencies, inferior to 66 MHz.

Nover has been updated.
http://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=3890

The only change is that it won't let you increase the AHB at all without telling you it's dangerous (on CX).
Unlike the CPU which froze/rebooted quickly if set to a wrong frequency, it seems it's hard to find out the limit for the AHB on CX, as the file corruption is progressive and silent at the beginning.

So you should not increase the AHB above 66MHz on TI-Nspire CX, unless you'd like to help us finding out if some frequencies between 66 and 75MHz are safe.

The source located at ftp://ftp.3drealms.com/source/duke3dsource.zip won't be easy to port as it includes some assembly.

Did you see this btw ?

It's a total conversion of Duke Nukem 3D episode 1 level 1 for the Doom engine.

Why do you need an older OS to reformat your calculator ? . . .
