The little icons on Ti-planet are pretty cool, except I can't tell what they are sometimes...

Lua / Re: Transferring Lua Projects from Calc to Computer
« on: May 15, 2012, 05:14:38 pm »
What you'd like to do is to retrieve the Lua source for a TNS, right ?

I have it typed up in a notes file on the calculator, which I can send around as a tns. I just want to get the source out of there.

It's not the most easy thing to do if you don't have the student software. You need TI's code (for now) to unencrypt the document.
This can be in nspire_emu, the student software, or the online document player. If you are on windows/mac, try to see if you can copy your source with the online document player.
The online document player is pretty cool! Except I still can't copy code out of there...

I think he meant from ocLua to a proper .lua file on the computer ?

Then just save the source inside a Notes app for example and grab the .tns from your computer.

Then you have several choices :
- simply use TINCS (which you don't have so I'm not gonna explain)
- load it onto nspire_emu and dump the memory
- post the .tns here so we can extract it for you :P
- :P
- How would you do that?
- That's a little inconvenient...

if you don't have the ti-software, you can download the trial here:
http://education.ti.com/html/nspire/te.html
as you can see it is the teacher edition, it has 90 days trial, while the student soft has 30 days trial
a plus time to experiment
I hope this can help you
I've already used that for a while, so I can't get trial software back again. I actually have the disk that came with the Nspire, but it's refusing to work.

Lua / Transferring Lua Projects from Calc to Computer [Solved]
« on: May 14, 2012, 09:31:03 pm »
I've kinda asked about this before, but I never really found an easy way that works right now (notepad is in the future  :().

So what would be the easiest way to transfer a Lua project started on the Nspire to the computer?

P.S. I have TiLP and nspire_emu, no Student Software.

Edit: Solved! :D
Spoiler For "My (long) method":
Current method to put Lua file from Calc to Comp.
1. Install ndless.
2. Use TNS2XML by excale to turn TI-Notepad document into two .xml files. http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9295&p=124483
3. Send the problem.xml to your computer.
4. Use http://bwns.be/jim/xml2lua.html to delete extra stuff.
5. Add newlines and check for correct code
6. Done!

Whoa. Interesting stuff. 8 minutes...

Hurray for ndless! USB devices ftw! Also it's supporting a wireless mouse!  :D

I only do it for Lua Dev > Tools, Source, Finished. It's nice and organized. I'll try to live without.  :)

Edit: It's also used with startup programs in ndless like nclock

I was using nover to overclock my calculator (everything was under recommended levels), gbc4cx with a lot of games, ndoom2, and particles! :D

They should all be pretty stable right?

Other Calculators / Calculator Total Wipeout

Well. This is most unfortunate. Today I turned on my Nspire and it decided to reboot. It has done this a few times since I installed ndless, but I thought nothing too much about it. Today it turned out to be different. It got about halfway through when it said it needed to install a new OS. I have no idea where the OS went, but I sent a copy of OS 3.1.0.392 to my calculator through my newly configured TiLP. Then I check the documents, and everything's gone!  :o

I lost
*A Pokemon save with 43 hours of play time, I beat the Elite four on the calculator  :'(
*Completed games of Super Mario Bros DX, Super Mario Land, and Super Mario Land 2
 *The game
*Save files for Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda, and Mario's Picross which I had gotten very far along
*Lots of mini projects in Nspire Lua
*Bunch of crap I forgot about.

Any ideas about why this happened or if I could recover anything?

Thank you it works!  :D I'll keep running it as root, it's less work :P

Edit: I have a folder inside a folder, but on TiLP it shows a folder with a question mark inside of it. Any ideas?

Yeah, it'd be nice with sprites, but I'd need to change some widths and stuff. I'll find some time to do it later. Finals and lots of testing is coming up like with everyone now.  :)

I think I'm fine with the move counter and your credits.  :)

I've been trying to get TiLP to work on Ubuntu recently. It works fine with my TI 84+, but it doesn't with my Nspire.

In the following terminal output, I have my Nspire plugged in and turned on. TiLP has already detected my Nspire with DirectLink in Port #1. Now I'm just refreshing the dirlist and it doesn't work.  D:

Isn't that just a chunk missing? Or did you manually remove all those tiles...  :o

Are you sure the resolution is correct? It's about 300*200? Even so, it looks really blurry.  :P

I recommend that you just try to do a simpler version of RCT. Don't try anything too difficult like isometrics or the complex formulas. Start doing the project yourself and then others will help.

Edit: However, that screenshot does make me want to play RCT2 again.  :)
