TI-Nspire / Re: On-calc Nspire emulators

I'm going to say: the source for the basis for my porting project is fully compatible with the Nspire. Seriously, the files for the actual emulation are all common to all hardware. just take a look

* Dapianokid is impressed with these ideas.

You, sir, have done a great job increasing activity!

It would not be too hard on a processor/RAM point of view but to keep the emulator as close as possible to normal speed the screen would have to be refreshed less often. Grayscale emulation would definitively be hard. I would say maybe something like Emu8x for the 83+SE/84+SE but that can also emulate the TI-73 and 83+ instead of just the 82, 82 Stats/83/76.Fr, 85 and 86.

I could probably count as many as 12 different patterns, systems, and styles of grayscale. Everybody does it differently, mostly because the only games where it is used are worthy of awesome graphics. Grayscale games are written by experienced coders usually, and they are all tailored to the game because it works better different ways for different reason, what with the slow CPU and all. Grayscale emulation would be impossible, programs would have to be rewritten into a standardized way or new ones would need to be written. A detection routine may be possible, finding where the screen is updated constantly... But I suggest using an interrupt that only updates the screen when needed. I have a feeling, however, that a converter will be written so games can be ported to the CSE in a snap.

I had one ittybitty scratch that corrupted the start of the last file in the whole game. I just bought it off of gog.com because repairing that issue would be too much of a hassle. It's worth the money, though. 6 bucks for hours of entertainment? Yep.

I was considering attempting just such a shell, DJ_O, but I have no time.

Do you guys want my computer generated .sv4 of a rollercoaster that reaches the game's internal speed limit? It requires the Dragons IOA 6 trainer.

Well I announce just to let people know, and then I simply let them wait. They know what's comin'. Unfortunately, I never got this finished because of personal matters and the work I HAD done is on an irrecoverable hard drive.

calc84maniac seems to simply let people know "this concept is being worked on" but never how far along he may b e or how much work it may take. But he is a coding genius. So I think it balances it out. What he does finish tends to be pure gold stuff.

Somebody needs to spark that interest. Wii hacking never seemed to fully die. I wouldn't know how to revive Nspire development though.

Can I suggest something that might make using this website a little bit easier?
DJ_O refered me to some faster, less bloated versions of this website. This website is faster than TI-Planet or Facebook, don't get me wrong, but I think it might be nice to have those sites listed somewhere on the home page as an alternative to this site, in case you own a slow computer (or have filters).
Just figured I'd say: I'm back. No IRC, and I still have one filter on the computer, which won't allow me to use search engines. As time passes, I can look up stuff using Google. Lately, I've been hacking video games for fun (that, and 7 hours of daily piano. Two Chopin Etudes a month, minimum, epic7.) :) Oh, my old one competely exploded (almost literally) after years of use and recently, long hours of full CPU. So I bought a Dell Optiplex, splitting the cost with dad. I lost my calculator directory so I'm a little bit upset about it.

Also, how come TI's servers seem to send me only like 1k of their huge linking applications? I haven't been able to send anything to my calculator because I can't install them! I hate TiLP, too, so... The files from TI won't download.

Good to be back :)

When you quit Omnimaga because your computer has so many filters on it and then come back because your 10 year old computer's motherboard's capacitors blow up because it is running at full CPU all the time because it has so many filters on it so you bought a new refurbished Dell Optiplex and write a run-on sentence about it.
True story.
Also, when you write cheat codes and walkthroughs for a video game nobody plays and then accidentally make it popular!
True story (wayy too much free time. I learned how to get out of bounds almost anywhere in Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt and wrote a walkthrough on how to swim underwater anywhere and stuff.).

My topic has a link to an unbelievably well written Genesis emulator project source download. Porting that to the Nspire would be a cinch.

Look at the top. I only made enough progress to get it theoretically capable of running on the Nspire before life came in and took over. This project is scrapped, and I left a link with the source of what i started with. My old computer crashed and I just got this new one, I don't do those things much anymore. Anybody who wants to take it on is welcome and encouraged to.
