News / Re: Game Boy Color emulator for the TI-Nspire released
« on: April 09, 2013, 07:35:35 pm »
Hey calc84maniac, I would like to make a request:

Your gpSP-Nspire program allows one to remap the controls for the emulator AND the actual program, can you make a minimal GUI that allows options to be changed like gpSP-Nspire allows? You could add a few things to let people fool around. :)
Specifically, I wish that fast forward were toggleable, rather than having to hold a button. I am right handed, so the arrow keys or even the numpad are difficult to use and use the right side for the other buttons. I'm much more used to using the arrow keys and escape, tab, and documents for the A, start, and B buttons.
Plus, I can't press the B button and fast forward at the same time... Which is a hassle when you're tyring to play a game that is much easier to get through on fast forward.

desderp, there are often broken/modified ROMs passed as official. I had to reflash my fs on my Nspire running a fake version of Sonic Advanced. here are some tips:
All GBA roms are EXACTLY 16.0 Mb. No exceptions.
Anything listed as homebrew or "changed" with bugfixes, user data added, or patches, is dangerous and not a good idea to try (altho I'm not ruling those out!)
Finally, find the list of GBA ROM checksums for any particular checksum type. Go and get your ROM, and see if it's checksum is exactly that of the one listed.

I have had a terrible time of getting cheats to work on my calculator. Help?

I did that, and my father has been helping me add some functionality. The rootfs images provided by voginator are broken links. So I'm getting that stuff myself.
I meant the bootloader. It detects usb devices fine, I just hadn't formatted it to ext4...

I am going to port ESword bible reader to Nspires.

Why not add a clock to the top bar on Nspires?

Streetwalker, I do'nt believe it will be that fast when you test out much larger numbers like 1777771.
I refined mine and the size does not matter, and I invented a new algorithm for primality!
Average time: .028 seconds per digit.

That was fun to mess around with so far. But you will need to make sure that no code hacking is possible, because earlier I could easily up the speed of my character <_<

How does one "hack" a game without cheat engine lol

Also, from my end, lots of characters glitch around and go super fast and take mine over...

DJ_O, I've learnt how to write a minimal Internet browser, so obviously I try the emergency quick remedies :) Thanks though!
I'll just use a client, but somebody should fix the website tool. thnx

I'm unable to connect to OmnomIRC. This doesn't look like a problem on my end, so has anybody else experienced a problem?

then I can't find the right one...

Dapianokid said his took 11 seconds to compute the 42nd prime palindrome, but from the conversation, he may have a much more efficient algorithm for larger values. I think his was also running at 150MHz, so I am not sure.

Has anybody set any benchmarks for other languages?

I was running at 264MHz. Also, mine exponentially gets slower with bigger numbers,
so I'm rewriting it to be roughly the same for all possible Nspire values.

So like root=/dev/ram rootdelay=10?
Oh and, uh, what exactly are my functions dong, in a newb language?

Yeah it just keeps hanging...

Okay so I have my bootloader, zImage, and my USB stick. Here are the functions I use:

kernel linux/zImage.tns
root=/dev/sdaX !!!
rootdelay=10 !!!
cmdline root=/dev/ram
boot

The exclamation marks aren't what I type, but it says those instructions are unknown. Also, idk what initrd is, and do I need it? Halp!
I untarred xconfig_20130215_1915.tar.bz2 into the stick I am using, and it is low power.
When I boot, it just hangs after long blocks of text fly up the screen.
I'm Linux savvy, not manual bootloader savvy, or Nspire savvy for that matter.
