TI Calculators / What is the practical difference between the TI-84 Plus and Silver?

Hi,
I'm not understanding what the real difference between these units is. ticalc.org says that although the Silver has more RAM, only 24K of RAM is user-accessible.
Is this true even when programming in Z80 assembly? The Silver is much more expensive. What do I lose by buying a regular 84+ and not getting the Silver model?
Thanks.
