TI wouldn't give open asm support. It would be more like a limited c compiler sdk, but why would we even need this if we already have ndless.
Like what has been said before, C gets compiled to asm, so if TI has C support, they have no way to block asm. They could certainly disourage it, by not including asm tools in their SDK, but they can't block it.

There's another way to check. Take out the drive. On one side, do you see a lot of pins (IDE), or three or so plastic tounges with contacts printed onto them (SATA)?

That said, I wonder if TI will eventually release a TI-Nspire memory expansion pack. Maybe they're making OSes large purposely to eventually make people buy more Flash. 
Where would the memory go?
It would be cool if they made an adapter for the bottom port that allows connecting an SD card 
It would be the sd interface, with a proprietary form factor, no doubt. Kinda like what nintendo did with gamecube memory cards.

This laptop is fairly recent, right? (Check your user manual to make sure it has a SATA hard drive.) You can either buy an external 2.5" sata enclosure, which lets you connect the drive to another computer over USB, or when you get a new laptop, you should be able to install the old drive in the new computer, though windows won't start and you will need to use a boot cd to back up your files.

Some people will never use more than 2 sata ports, so they could sell off the bad motherboards for a (much) lower price, clearly labeled that the 3gbps sata ports will not work, to make a little more money.
