Violence isn't the answer, but not everyone seems to know that. It must be scary knowing that that was your schools district.

Yeah, it would work fine for games as long as the rgb/bgr bit was flipped fast enough. If you used interrupts to sync it with the screen refresh rate, you wouldn't have to bother flipping the bit throughout the code, and the pattern would not slow down even if each frame took a while to render.

Forget about mViewer and its 16 grayscale levels (4-bits).

The last build of mViewer is now able to display your bitmaps in not less than 31 different grayscale levels! (8-bits)

And guess what? While viewing the image, it as fast as the last public binary.

It was quite hard to take a photo.

Note: it looks much better without an APN.
Isn't that 5bit grayscale? (2^5=32)
I experimented with that a while ago. Are you using the checker pattern, like what is used for 3 lvl grayscale on the 83/84?

And to make sure I have this straight, the LCD driver is physically incapable of displaying any more that 16 shades of gray, right?

General Calculator Help / Re: New TI-Nspire? Help!!!

Yeah, even USA Today recommends the nspire (touchpad, of course). I saw it in some back to school gear guide. If all you are using your calc for is middle school/he math, the nspire is completely unnecessary. Just TI trying to make more money when the textbooks get updated.

Ah, that's why there are those garbled bars when installing.

Other Calculators / Re: Nspire CAS+: how worth is it?
« on: December 14, 2010, 08:47:20 pm »
If it's just for math, it should do. You could also look at hp calcs, i think those also include a cas. As for os upgrades, you would probably need a NAND programmer, unless there is a way to download stuff over rs232. You may or may not have to factor the rsa key, because the os was never intended to be upgraded.

How many PS3s would we need to factor a 1024 bit RSA key in one year? :P
I'd need to know something along how many numbers they can factor in one second. But probably around 2^500 PS3's if they could factor 1024/s.  I think, my math could be awful there, but I'm pretty sure it's correct.  (Granted, that's in one second.)

EDIT: In a year, it would be 4.15141×10^157 computers.

Psh, we can do that O.O There are already 1×10^9 computers in the world, anyway. And since the number of computers will double in 7 years, we'll get there in about log(4x10^157/10^9)/log(2)*7=3455 years...

EDIT: The TI-Ncourage'll be discontinued by then :P
But you also have to take into account the performance increase of new computers. Also, there are 6 cores available on the ps3 processor, and from what I've read, the ps3 has 20-30x the flops of a Pc.

Thanks JustCause. After lengthy decision, I - along with mates at school - are leaning towards the TI-Nspire TouchPad CAS. Being the latest and apparently greatest OS of the pack, it is currently the only calculator officially supported in my Mathematics Textbook anyway. Although homebrew is currently not supported via OS 2.1 (or 2.0 for that matter) I'd  rather wait for the new Ndless distribution. The balance between education and mario is just too idiotic.

Also, since the peak of prior discussion was at a degree of change, how different is the Touch/clickpad's software. Apparently the menus are totally different, despite the congruent naming of OS 2.1 for both tangents. You mentioned earlier that applying a clickpad is possible on the touchpad series. Would this be via opening the calculators hardware and manually rewiring? ...and would doing this allow installation of OS 1.7 (for Ndless) later?

Please help me out, as time is nearing its depletion!
Lol, your textbooks already have the nspire in them! Two hers ago, my algebra 1 textbook had 83+/84+ examples, and last years algebra 2 textbooks had the original 83 in it. I would still try to get a clickpad cas, as they still support os 2.1 if you must use it, and over the summer or whenever, you can downgrade to 1.7 and use ndless.

I read on hackspire that the LCD driver supports 8 bit gs. Could this be a possibility for a future version?

so... anyone have 1760 PS3's lying around ;)
We should make it 1761, so we have bragging rights over the military :P

Check out this article, on the Air Force constructing the 34th fastest supercomputer in the world for only 2 million dollars! This would be handy for rsa cracking!

Which city? I'm near Lansing, so the snow isn't that bad. (Though I just got like 6 inches today.)

Do you love it or hate it?
I like it except when I have to shovel the driveway, like I did twice today. (At the rate its snowing, I'll probably have to shovel it again      )
