Site Feedback and Questions / Re: Our current problem II

I also realized, by reacting harshly to incidents, the rule breaker will just be inclined to break more rules, further alienating them from the community and making it far more likely they will leave for good.

gay bashing really...  oh well.  (depends on where you live, may sound different. In general Indiana the really is said incredulously)

I foresee a new problem.  Hating on haters. :P

We should still be firm with people who break the rules, but not be overly harsh and make people want to leave here forever, that way, if they can decide if they want to change and come back. A while ago, there was a member who was making anti-American comments, and the matter was dealt with very calm and professionally,  resulting in a one week ban for him, and he came back and is a well respected member and one of the top posters today.

That game is fun  The only suggestion I have is to make the rotation system better, perhaps by dragging with the right mouse button or using arrow keys to rotate.

If I remember, NQC compiles down to the same bytecode as the Lego software. There is also a version of it for the NXT, Not eXactly C if anyone is interested, it works in the same way.
The RCX can also be programmed in C(++), Pascal, and Java, so it is also quite flexible, it just has slower hardware.

Sounds cool, but isn't giving the basic necessities to poor people more of a priority that giving them a video game console?

Miscellaneous / Re: Types of Cell Phones

old skool nokia FTW (with broken screen :P)
you can't break those phones :P
My parents have one of those, circa like 2003 or something. The only problem is it now takes an unreasonable amount of force on the zero button for it to register so she's getting a new one. We also have another nokia that has a monochrome screen but we dont use it.

Also, my preferred carrier would be T-Mobile (which my parents use, so there is probably a family bundle or something) or Sprint, because of the fact they are smaller and have to be more competitive.

I agree with that, DJ. However, in the future, we need to respond to incidents like these without more flames and spamming. I also believe that we are all entitled to our own opinions and beliefs, however we should refrain from sharing them if they will offend people. Threatening to ban people if they don't change their beliefs is also not the way to go, warning people they will be banned if they keep on making offensive remarks is.

I think hot_dog got rid of the checkerboard pattern because it produces artifacts when turning. That even happened to me with nZombie, on a real Nspire, you can see the checkered pattern on the walls when turning, even though it has hardware grayscale.

Math and Science / Re: CAS
« on: September 05, 2011, 11:05:15 pm »
I know derive is propriteary software, so we don't have any source code from there to learn from. There are lots of open source CAS libraries though, so you could take a look at the code and see how stuff gets done.

I thought it was meant to be flickery grayscale? It should look fine on my Nspire though, with its horrible screen response time :P

It will be quite complicated. You have to have a system that interprets the string the user enters, then it has to compute the results like a human would, with out a loss of accuracy (no approximating square roots as decimals, etc.)
Which calc?

I like it, except for the sky background, it just doesn't look "distant."
