News / Re: Omnimaga 2011 Programming Contest, Part #1: Axe Parser
« on: July 07, 2011, 07:36:45 pm »
I'm detestably going to have to drop out.  I'm sick in bed right now with a horrible headache and too hazy to work on this until it's too late, I just found my calculator the other day after someone stole it, and my sister has to use it 8 hours a day while she's taking a math class over the summer.  Sorry.
Ouch. I hope you will continue the project afterwards anyways, even though the contest will be done.

Not at all, I'm telling you to stay away from the drama if you don't like it. So don't post in threads like this and stick to the ones about programming if that is all you are here for.
(This will be my last post in this thread, I promise.)
I would really just prefer if we didn't have these sorts of threads to begin with. All they do is spread negative vibes throughout the community and make everybody angry. They also do not belong in a community "free of hostility", because they are being hostile to those who are hostile to us! In the words of Mahatma Ghandi, "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." We are blinding ourselves by doing this.

The best way of stopping this sort of thing is to ignore it.
Anyone who would flame anyone else like this is a fucktard and should be eliminated.
I know I'm running a risk by presenting an opposing opinion, but that's being as bad as what you're criticizing him for, isn't it? :) Surely you can respond to such a PM by rising above the level of (im)maturity and hatred that you're claiming this PM expresses by responding with calmness, placidity, and ignorance (as in ignoring it) instead?
You are correct ignoring it is the better way to go, and unfortunately I was too upset myself to ignore it and I responded in kind. This was a mistake because I was feeding the troll. My mistake :/
Ummm...this is exactly what I was trying to say in the topic I posted earlier, but then it got locked (and subsequently moved to spam so guests cannot see it) ??? Looking back, posting it when I did was not the best idea, but why lock it? It gives the impression that the message I had was not wanted, that we should do the opposite of not responding to trolls. I'm sorry if I hurt anyone; I will never know what it feels like for someone else when they are insulted, or their ways of dealing with it, so I was being insensitive in thinking that it would be easy for everyone to ignore trolls, but I feel saying what I said was necessary after seeing Metagross111's PM, and Eeems' retaliation, because I thought the situation would deteriorate into more of the same.

HOly crap ninja'd

right now i'm not on my pc and that one is linked with wifi so I don't get more than25 mb/s

And it's cheap compared to what it gives.
Are you sure you are not confusing your internet speed with your local network speed?

I guess it's just the two-domain limit then, as t0xic and Juju found.

It isn't, it was a fresh account, it's because ephan is popular somehow.
Yeah, I confirmed that. It said $3 a year even though I did not register any other names. BTW, thegame.co.cc is only $11/year if anyone is interested.

I can host it, got a quad core + 4go ram+ 100mb/s, but it would be better to buy a dedicated server :P
100 megabits a second :o you are soo lucky.
ohh, it is?
For many ISPs, running a server is against their TOS
I should look that up.
* Happybobjr runs
I do it anyways.

I think it still works anyways, the nspire will automatically convert graphics to grayscale.

Yeah, for home Internet connections, ISPs expect people to do a lot more downloading, not run servers, so it is cheaper for them to provide asymmetric connections and not have users complain. For many ISPs, running a server is against their TOS, but they usually don't care if you have a video game server.

Ever notice how at the beginning, when Ronald falls backwards on the bench fast enough, it looks like the bench is spinning?

Just saying that because I have seen some calc-sized screens that do use CFLs.

For 20 people, you need a lot better computer, around a 2ghz dual core, and at least 2gb of memory, but the biggie is internet connection. It needs to be at least 5mbps both ways, download and upload, which will be an issue for people with asymmetric internet connections, the most common type.

My computer eats minecraft server + minecraft client + folding@home + other game for breakfast, but the upload speed on my connection (3mbps) is only good for 10 people which is still quite a lot. Unfortunately, since my family will be moving from an apartment to a house once we buy one, we may ISPs, and/or my parents will only pay for a slower connection speed, so if I make my server available now, I can't guarantee that it will function at the same level a few months from now.
