Good choice. I find current onboard audio to be quite sufficient too, if there was an increase in quality with a dedicated card, it's not worth the $130 to me.

Well, it is already trivial to use a calculator to cheat, but if say a custom os was made that had a CAS and no press 2 test, there could be issues.

I think it increases fps by like 3% or something, most games don't spend that much time on audio processing. The last sound card I ever owned was an ISA one, so I can't really say anything about the quality though .

We could just connect the 3.5mm jack to an analog-digital converter, the various values could be used when playing sound, and then for linking, there would be a threshold value that would determine high or low.
