News / Re: More info on the TI-Nspire CX series

Hmm.. from that picture, it looks like there is some guard over the screen, preventing direct contact.  Hopefully, that would help to reduce the likelihood of screen damage.  Still, I do think they should at least give a free cover with the thing. :(

(Also, the color screen looks great! :D)
Yeah it seems like the Prizm. The Prizm has some sort of guard too. Actually, old TI calcs were like that too (TI-81, 82, some of the regular 83s, 85 and I think the TI-92 had an extra protection or something)
That's a good idea, I think. I've seen a few TI-Nspires with messed-up screens.
I remember those. Too bad the original nspires didn't have them, mine has an annoying scratch right in the center of the screen.

For me, omnimaga is still quite functional on a 1ghz/256mb computer, and on my ipod touch. I've never had a big slowdown. I normally use firefox 3.6, however, when I use IE9 on my computer (Vista Business 32 bit), I get this:
??? ??? ???

Well said. I know I have made mistakes in the past, but I'm sure none of you think of me as a troll.

A lot of these issues could be avoided if you think before you click on "submit".

TI Z80 / Re: Motherload

thats why I suggested going down 666 feet instead of 6666.  ;)
Keep in mind that the blocks in the original game were 11-12 feet tall. If I remember correctly, the map was 7400 feet deep, so the level is about 650 blocks tall, meaning SirCmpwns map the correct size.

Computer Usage and Setup Help / Re: computer won't boot D:

I've never had a good experience with home-built computers. Whenever I do extensive rebuilding of a computer, it always fries eventually. If the smoke comes out, face the truth: Your motherboard bought the farm. I'm really sorry.

When you go out to look for a replacement computer, buy a Dell. My family currently owns three Dells, and not one of them has had problems (other than being outdated). Even a used Dell is better than a home-built PC. You should be able to transfer your hard disks to your new system.

EDIT: I've noticed you've been posting a lot, momrocker. Why don't you create an account and join us?
Even dells fail, and when they do, tech support isn't always great. It was a major pita when I'm trying to get a replacement motherboard, and I'm talking to some Indian tech support guy who barely knows english. I heard of someone whose hard drive failed after three months. Then, Dell shipped him a refurbished replacement with the same problem that also failed in three months. This happened about three more times, after which I'm guessing he just went to best buy and got a hard drive there.

I thought I read somewhere the battery life for the cx is 6-8 hours.

Whats a PITA?
Pain In The A**

If the switch was made to fat, would there be less fs overhead and more space for files?

Wait, earthquakes are not allowed to be over magnitude 9.0? Why ???

Ndless / Re: Idling the CPU
« on: March 14, 2011, 11:39:27 pm »
Exactly. If a program that uses timers to keep a constant frame rate were to calculate how much time is being taken to make each frame, it could adjust the CPU frequency accordingly, kind of like how speedstep works on computers. The only problem I could think of is it may not be good for the hardware to keep on switching frequencies.

Where's the dithering? And why is the cx picture scary?

They'll probably make it more expensive.
I was wondering, is it possible to make a solar powered graphing calculator yet?

Nice! Now we won't need calculator holsters! I hope TI someday comes out with a pocket nspire, those things are so big.

A function to over/underclock the CPU would also be nice, a game like block dude or ferris doesnt need 90 MHz. Even though it is simple enough already, having a function means more people are likely to use it.
