Miscellaneous / TripleA« on: June 19, 2014, 02:27:22 pm »
Does anyone play TripleA? I was thinking if we could get 5 or 6 players we could play a PBEM game through this thread.
For those who have never heard of it: Quote from: TripleA Website TripleA is a free online turn based strategy game and board game engine, similar to such board games as Axis & Allies or Risk. TripleA comes with multiple games and over 100 more games can be downloaded from the user community. Supports single player vs AI, hot-seat, Play by Email and Forum, and a hosted Online lobby for live play online. Personally, I think it bears almost no resemblance to Risk, and is much closer to Axis & Allies, but whatever they say. 22

Um, then use C, not Java.

Computer Projects and Ideas / Re: Swerve Drive Simulator« on: June 07, 2014, 08:04:42 pm »As I said on chief delphi, I think you should Github the source. It would help a lot of people, as well as allow for contributions. Also: You should try your hand at a Java code simulator once the new control system comes out. Java, oh ouch. I wish java would go die in a hole somewhere. Python++! 25

Miscellaneous / Re: WW3: is it really going to happen?« on: April 26, 2014, 03:16:21 pm »
I think it will probably happen at some point, and small conflicts like Ukraine can easily blow up into total war.
The first stages of World War II seemed very benign. Hitler moves some troops to the Western edge of Germany, breaking the Versailles Treaty, but many people were convinced that the Versailles Treaty was unfair, and it was. Germany had not stepped out of her boundaries at all. Germany also started building an air force. Again, this was not really an aggressive move, but simply a sign that Germany wanted to be a world power again. Germany then peacefully forms and alliance with Austria, Hungary and Czechoslovakia, with very high support of the alliance by the natives of those countries. Even the invasion of Poland was not that big of an offensive on the world scale. It was the results of that invasion, and the reactions of the countries involved that caused a world war. Another interesting note is that right up to December 7, 1941, most Americans thought America would never be involved in European affairs again. The same type of sentiment always seems to precede any war. Now, it may seem impossible that a conflict in the Ukraine can cause World War, but as history shows, small offensives can cause big wars. 27
Site Feedback and Questions / Re: New Signature Limitations« on: March 01, 2014, 11:21:05 pm »There was also the episode with signature chatrooms, where there was a site letting you create shoutboxes that showed up in a JPG or PNG then display it in sigs. Some Omni haters at the time used them to circumvent Omni rules by trolling in those chatrooms instead of the forums. How would those work? Could you show me an example? 28
