I don't mean to be rude by saying that, but an iPad simply isn't my idea of a calculator :-\

Here are my motherboard specs. Could someone please just tell me what I can use as far as RAM goes?

I would rather have a classpad than an iPad.

It's definitely not worth buying!  Calculators without color screens are as obsolete as touch screens that require a stylus.  It's junk and Casio knows it.  If you want a good calc, get an iPad and down load the "Math Studio" app.  Among other things, the 3d graphing that Math Studio gives you is totally awesome! My feeling is that schools are choosing to waste their money on obsolete technology when they buy nshit or classpads but that does not mean that I am going to make the same mistake.  Take a look at the technology in your iPhone or droid and compare that to what you get for your money with a calculator.   :w00t:

Uhh. I wouldn't go that far. Like juju said, teachers aren't going to like it. And, a small screen would be very hard to use without a stylus. Think of how hard it is to type on an iPhone. (For me, at least)

Is Non ECC the same as DIMM?

RDIMM, DIMM, SDRAM and DDR* are indeed different and incompatible with each other. If your working set of RAM says RDIMM, you need RDIMM, something else would be incompatible.

OK. So I guess I'll have to send this back. I hope I can find some DIMM thats not too expensive since I dont want to spend to much on an old computer. :-\

EDIT:

The working set says:

Code: [Select]
Samsung
KOREA 0317
PC2100U - 25331 - Z
256MB DDR PC2100 CL2.5

What kind of RAM should I get? My board is an AM37 btw if that helps ;)

Computer Usage and Setup Help / Got new RAM...is it incompatible?

I just received 2 1GB sticks RAM I bought online for my eMachines T2482. I got it from pcprogress.com.

When I try to boot up my monitor does not come out of powersave mode, but beeps until I hard power off. Knowing a little bit of POST, I know this means there is no RAM recognised by the computer.

So, this makes me think that my RAM is incompatible, since its unlikely for 2 sticks to be bad. I tried putting them in one at a time in each slot, still no help.

OTHER INFO:

I currently have 2 sticks of 512MB RAM.

The new sticks' stickers look like this:
Code: [Select]
NETLIST NL9127RD12042 - D21JSB
       1GB DDR RDIMM
       PC2100 - 200436
       0197 - 97B - 255BDL

BARCODE

The par that says "DDR RDIMM" is what I'm wondering about. Is RDIMM different than DIMM or SDRAM? Will a computer that uses DDR DIMM/SDRAM be compatible with RDIMM?

If these stick are indeed incompatible, is it worth it to pay $60 from crucial for the guaranteed stuff? (I got these sticks for $9.98 from pc progress)

Thx in advance :)

I thought I read that the 2400+ OC's nicely at 30%... Maybe I'm wrong.

Hi. I have 2GB of RAM being shipped to my house ATM and while I'm in the mood of upgrading an old PC... I thought it might be fun to overclock the CPU (If its possible without extensive cooling systems).

So...

MY SPECS:
eMachines T2482 with stock motherboard and fans
AMD Athlon 2400+ (2.0GHz)
512MB RAM (2GB on the way, the most my board will recognise)
510MB Swap/Virtual Memory

Ubuntu 11.10/WinXP Pro

Can I OC this without replacing the fans? Is there a linux program to check CPU temp at 100%? Will my BIOS let me OC?

Is it worth it?

I only want to OC it to about 2.3GHZ or so.

What kind of movies does it play, and does it need an SD card?
